President Yoon Explains how Handbag Scandal was a Political Setup; Call Incident a “Little Regrettable”

Here are some interesting comments from President Yoon on the First Lady’s handbag scandal:

President Yoon Suk Yeol said Wednesday that first lady Kim Keon Hee failed to “cold-heartedly reject” a visitor armed with a hidden camera, speaking for the first time on allegations she accepted a luxury handbag from the man in 2022.

Yoon said in an interview with KBS TV that the bag was given to her as a “political maneuver” as it was filmed with a camera hidden inside a watch and the footage was only released last year ahead of an election year.

“The fact that she was unable to cold-heartedly reject him was the problem, if one can call it a problem, and it is a little regrettable,” he said. The interview was filmed on Sunday and aired Wednesday night.

Yonhap

Here are the details on how this was a planned political setup:

Yoon had come under growing pressure to address the allegations surrounding the first lady, even as his office maintained the Christian Dior bag, valued at around 3 million won (US$2,200), was given to her by a Korean American pastor in September 2022 as part of a premeditated hidden camera trap.

The issue was seen as a liability for the ruling party ahead of the April 10 parliamentary elections, as the incident occurred after Yoon took office as president in May 2022.

Yoon said in the interview that the incident took place when the couple were still living at their private apartment unit in southern Seoul, where his wife kept an office in the basement, before moving into the new presidential residence.

He suggested the pastor visited her at the office after claiming to have had ties with her late father and insisting that they meet.

“From now on, now that we have moved into the residence, not only will such things be managed well, but I think we will have to be clear so as not to cause any misunderstandings or anxieties or concerns among the people,” he said.

You can read more at the link, but the First Lady early in the administration was still living in their private home without a staff that would normally vet and advise on visits like this. When Kim Keon-hee was given the bag she seemed surprised which demonstrates she was not expecting it and thought this was only going to be a meeting with a pastor her father supposedly knew.

The fact this camera trap was executed early in Yoon’s presidency in 2022, but released shortly before the 2024 elections shows how this was a political setup to infleunce the upcoming election. President Yoon has made it clear there is a process in place now to prevent political setups like this from happening again.

There is something called the Blue House, now a tourist spot, but back then it was the Presidential Office and Residence.

Even if he wanted the Presidential office in a different location, Yoon could have resided and worked in the Blue House, until things were decided but was so adamant on not staying there that he stayed in his apartment, which we all now know was more of a headache.

So, if he’s blaming the “lack of staff” for letting the pastor through, then it’s on him.

He’s also suggesting that there was a glaring lack of Presidential security in the apartment, considering the pastor managed to enter the apartment with a hidden camera.

That would have been a boon for DPRK Intelligence.

I can’t help but notice that is trying very hard to explain away the First Lady accepting an expensive gift, which is against the law.

Comparing with the Cho Kuk case, yes what he and his wife did was illegal in that they forged documents so that their daughter could have the upper hand during university entrance.

In the case of Cho Kuk, I remember GI Korea practically demonizing Cho and his wife while pretty much applauding as the prosecutors under Yoon dragged the family through the mud.

Here, we have another case of corruption, but GI Korea is saying she could be excused, because this was all “set up.”

GI Korea did acknowledge that the First Lady should have not accepted the bag in the first place, but today that is all gone and replaced with what sounds like “the First Lady is innocent because she was set up and no one blocked the pastor.”

But at the end of the day, she did break the law by accepting the bag.

Like Cho Kuk and his wife who broke the law by forging documents.

Yoon could have also come clean and said “Yes she shouldn’t have accepted it.” “It was poor judgement, etc.”

That would have probably ended the issue right there, but Yoon tried to spin it and very badly I might add.

On top of that GI Korea is cheerleading Yoon and his wife.

Two cases of corruption and a case of double standard by GI Korea.

The smartest thing he ever did was un-ass the Blue House.

He moved from a place the previous administration wired up more than an Epstein guest bedroom and moved to a place where the entire non-partisan system has supported security.

Much as I find it ironic to agree with Trump’s top cheerleader on Rokdrop, “accepting” a Dior handbag is only faintly comparable to Cho Kuk and wife stealing a university place from a less well connected, though more honest, student.

Not really the kompromat of an apple box of 십만원 bills, or a hotel room in Moscow with young blondes.

“Trump’s top cheerleader”

Is that me? Shucks.

But I think there is a misunderstanding.

I am not really a Trump cheerleader.

I am an American cheerleader… not the America we have, but the idea of America.

Trump’s political position best represents what it takes to recover and maintain the idea of America.

Examples would be:

– a sealed border to keep out those who would compete with America citizens for jobs and resources

– taking care of American citizens and infrastructure before non-Americans citizens and nations

– getting out of pointless and expensive wars that have no benefit, or even goal

– knowing when to use force and when to negotiate

– ending unfair trade, American technology transfers, compromising our digital infrastructure, etc.

– reducing the amount of interference and control the government has in the lives of productive citizens and small business

– encouraging productivity rather than crime and sloth

– making other countries share the economic burden of world policing

…and many more.

It is hard to see these as controversial concepts, but here we are.

I cheerlead Trump because he mostly supports these concepts and everyone else supports the self-destructive opposite.

I give zero fúcks about mean tweets, grabbed pùssies, and the obvious media lies of injecting bleech or Russian collision. None of that affects me like fewer pointless government regulation or downtown filled with druggie illegals.

I think very little of people who can’t recognize the difference between these things…

…but I see all sorts of self-destructive behavior from toxic wives to drug use to credit card debt to useless degrees…

…so I have zero expectation of people somehow having better judgement in their political decisions.

People deserve what they accept… and they very much deserve what they beg for.

So, America, have all the Biden & co. you want. I will thrive no matter what and likely live better the more dysfunctional everyone else becomes.

But I am not the type who wants to see the world burn and rule over the ashes. I want to live in a safe and prosperous society for everyone… which is why I stay in Korea.

In the end, I “cheerlead” for Trump becasue there are no other options.

Well, we all know that and the Setnaffarians want the USFK to stay in Korea forever, so it is imperative that Yoon not be beset with scandals that may bring down his administration.

Even if it means that the First Lady is made to look innocent despite her guilt.

However considering how he’s doing so far, I say he’ll be impeached in a year or two.

Then I suppose you won’t mind when Trump makes a deal with North Korea and withdraws the USFK from Korea.

“forbids public officials and their spouses from receiving gifts valued at one million won ($748) at a time or a total of three million in a single year from the same person. (…….)”

If the purse was 3 million won, unless she accepted more from this person (in the same year) that would not violate the law.
This happened to a General officer a few years ago, didn’t it? He accepted a briefcase gift that exceeded the minimum.

Back when I was offered gifts and unable to accept them, we wrote checks for the “excess” amount (yes it was awkward, but we did it, after talking to the jag). Think the limit in our case was 50 dollars.
Presumably they could do the same?

Liz or liz or setnaffa

I see the Setnaffarians are going into overdrive to defend their beloved Yoon.

But no matter.

When Trump becomes President he will withdraw the USFK from Korea and Yoon will look like a fool.

It’s time for the Setnaffarians to seriously consider voting for Biden.

I love it!

People make reduliculous statements.

You show them why they are as wrong as two boys fúcking.

They pretend you said nothing because… well… they can’t refute it and they have no real viewpoint of their own beyond the catchphrases they have been programmed with.

What better acknowledgement is there that you are right and they wrong… and they are also idiots.

Lefty stooges and tools have been doing this tactic for a long time. They know what point they are supposed to make but it is too far divorced from reality to support with facts so they just keep repeating it over and over.

This doesn’t work with anybody other than double digit IQ lefties.

Lefties, vaxtards, global warmers, etc., all do it when facts fail them… because it worked on them when done by the people who are using them.

I am not the first person to notice this.

“At that time I was still naive enough to try to make clear to them the madness of their ideas; in my small circle I talked until my tongue was weary and till my throat was hoarse, and I thought I could succeed in convincing them of the destructiveness of their Marxist doctrine of irrationality; but the result was contrary. It seemed as though the increasing realization of the destructive influence of Social Democratic theories would serve only to strengthen their determination. The more I argued with them, the more I got to know their dialectics. First they counted on the ignorance of their adversary; then, when there was no way out, they themselves pretended stupidity. If all this was of no avail, they refused to understand or they changed the subject when driven into a corner; they brought up truisms, but they immediately transferred their acceptance to quite different subjects, and, if attacked again, they gave way and pretended to know nothing exactly. Wherever one attacked one of these prophets, one’s hands seized slimy jelly; it slipped through one’s fingers only to collect again in the next moment. If one smote one of them so thoroughly that, with the bystanders watching, he could but agree, and if one thus thought he had advanced at least one step, one was greatly astonished the following day. The Jew did not in the least remember the day before, he continued to talk in the same old strain as if nothing had happened, and if indignantly confronted, he pretended to be astonished and could not remember anything except that his assertions had already been proved true the day before.
Often I was stunned. One did not know what to admire more: their glibness of
tongue or their skill in lying.
I gradually began to hate them.

Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf

This is exactly what it is like holding a discussion with anyone programmed to irrationally Support the Current Thing…

…because there are a few smart people using it as a tool of manipulation who argue like this and a lot lf stupid people led to follow who also argue like this.

Here, we only have the stupid ones.

I’m sure I know less about Yoon than most people here (and nothing at all about his wife). I do know something about being in a political position where gifts are limited though.

“t’s time for the Setnaffarians to seriously consider voting for Biden.”

Right. Because Biden’s family would never accept a gift over 800 dollars.

Just reading the rule again and I guess I got it wrong about the cap. Still, this seems to stretch the concept of making a mountain out of a molehill. Consider why the rule exists. To prevent grift/fraud. Not to play gotcha with a gift that exceeds the one time minimum but not the yearly maximum.

The real lesson here is that you can quote Hitler and it not only applies, but it applies with valid wisdom.

After study, I understand Stalin, Hitler, Kadaffy, Saddam, etc… even Pol Pot.

You don’t have to agree with them, but you need to understand them.

Mostly, you need to understand them because people just like them are plotting on you now for many of the same reasons.

You can’t change this…

…but you can manage your place in it.
