Is South Korea’s Dior Handbag Scandal a Political Setup?

It appears the whole Dior handbag scandal involving Korea’s first lady, Kim Keon-hee was a setup with a spy cam and a acquaintance giving Korea’s first lady the hand bag with her responding “Why do you keep bringing me these things?”:

When a YouTube video of South Korea’s first lady receiving a Dior handbag went viral last year, it initially made few waves in mainstream news media.

In the weeks before April’s general election, the footage has become a wedge that is straining relationships among People Power Party lawmakers, as well as a piece of political ammunition for the main opposition Democratic Party of Korea.

Opposition lawmakers have been raising their suspicions that first lady Kim Keon Hee violated anti-graft legislation that forbids public officials and their spouses from receiving gifts valued at one million won ($748) at a time or a total of three million in a single year from the same person. (…….)

Kim is featured in the 86-minute video for less than a minute, as the rest of the video is filled with commentaries and discussions among panels. Wearing a casual T-shirt, she asks Choi, who visited her at the headquarters of her company Covana Contents located in southern Seoul, “Why do you keep bringing me these things?”

The box of the Dior handbag is shown perched up on the coffee table between Kim and Choi next to glasses filled with water, but the video does not show Kim accepting the gift. It was revealed that Kim had accepted the gift through a statement released by the presidential office and ruling party which said the bag was “being managed and stored as a property of the government.”

The footage was filmed with a spy cam in September last year, Choi admitted through a press conference held at the National Assembly on Monday. Choi said he was able to meet Kim because he shared an acquaintance with her father.

Choi claimed that he decided to film the video to expose how Kim was abusing her power as the first lady.

Choi claimed that he decided to film the video to expose how Kim was abusing her power as the first lady.

After being interviewed by the Supreme Prosecutors Office:

Choi confessed that he released the video because Kim’s husband refused to accede to his extortion demands.

I see that and the Setnaffarians are busy defending the corrupt first lady.

All this is because they want to keep USFK in Korea forever and thus prop up a corrupt government that agrees with their point of view.

These are the same people who went after Cho Kuk for allegedly forging documents to get their daughter into university.

But when it comes to alleged stock manipulation and acceptance of expensive gifts by the corrupt first lady, both of which are illegal under Korean law, and the Setnaffarians choose to look the other way.

On top of that, they are defending her!

Such hypocrisy!

And for what?

Keeping USFK in Korea Forever.

Ridiculousness from ignorant and poorly educated right-wing Americans.

Are all the chinabots as ghey as this one?

I see that our Setnaffarian leader is resorting to racial and homophobic slurs now that he has no logical rebuff to my statement, which is no doubt true.

If one wants proof that Westerners don’t understand Korea, look no further than the sentence above.

In Korea, it is customary and a courtesy for a person to pretend to not accept gifts at first.

How, when to give gifts and tips in South Korea Shohei Ohtani (stripes.com)

If the first lady really didn’t want the gift, she could have said in no uncertain terms that the pastor should take it back.

But she didn’t and she kept them.

Whether she knew that it was illegal that is a matter for another discussion, but she did break the law by opting to keep them.

On top of that it seems the Presidential Office is at a loss on how to handle this matter.

For the PPP and the Presidential Office, it is a cluster fuck to say the least and those around Yoon can’t seem to tell him that his wife did something she shouldn’t have done and that it is imperative to contain this before it becomes a wildfire and destroys any chance of a PPP comeback.

Even the PPP is criticizing the First Lady for accepting the Dior bags

https://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/nation/2024/01/113_367242.html

Critical voices are growing within the ruling People Power Party (PPP) over controversies surrounding First Lady Kim Keon Hee, including video footage of her receiving a Dior handbag from a Korean American pastor in 2022.

One member of the PPP went as far as calling Kim, “Marie Antoinette”

During a YouTube interview Wednesday with broadcaster JTBC, Kim Kyung-yul, a member of the PPP’s interim leadership, said Yoon or the first lady should “state their position” regarding the handbag controversy, comparing Kim to Marie Antoinette, queen of France in the 17th century.

The Setnaffarians fear that Itaewon will bring down Yoon. Thus their rabid attacks against the victims of the tragedy and attempts to spread conspiracy theories.

But as can be seen, it is not Itaewon that will bring down Yoon, but his air-headed over plastic surgeries wife.

If one wants proof that Westerners don’t understand Korea, look no further than the sentence above.

Plus the fact that such “financial donations” to American political figures are just another normal everyday legal practice, expected in America. They don’t understand that anything considered $30 and above in Korea is considered a bribe, illegal in Korea.

Worse than that KM.

Unlike the allegations of receiving handbags against the wife of Yoon Seok-yeol, the wife of Clarence Thomas has been proven to accept cold hard cash from individuals and organizations involved in SCOTUS cases.

The best defense of Justice Clarence Thomas is that his voting record is 100% consistent and predictable.

Any bribe to him would be either completely unnecessary or a waste of money.

This is not the case with some of the other justices, as well as many politicians. Their voting record indicate they really want to be America First and conservative until the big liberal/anti-America/globalist/corporatist issues come up and they vote against their stated ideals with a half-hearted excuse that sounds nothing like their ususal speaking.

To a sensible analyst, this looks very much like someone brought out the Epstein Island videos or equivalent.

But that requires a bit of thinking to consider.

Everybody! Let’s focus attention on the one guy with a record that fully matches his ideology.

Shirley, then even if you are a US citizen and the reigning POTUS says put your ass in Gitmo, assuredly Clarence is gonna vote yes, Shirley, put his/her (unsure of your pronoun) ass in Gitmo.

And Shirley being so pretty will git mo beef sausage in Gitmo.

“Shirley, put his/her (unsure of your pronoun) ass in Gitmo.”

My pronouns are my master/my master. I find it especially gratifying when women and people of color don’t misgender me.

“And Shirley being so pretty will git mo beef sausage in Gitmo.”

That’s my escape plan.

When Hassan makes his move, I tell the other detainees that he is gay AF.

After they push the wall on him, I just walk out.

Then it’s off to Florida like the Marial boatlift…

…not a Hillsboro Beach Hatian.
