Anybody watching how is the Ukraine Spring Offensive going?
Anybody care?
Ukrain’s military was destroyed. Then their second military, composed of NATO’s remaining Soviet hardware, was destroyed. Now they are fielding their third military of dumbed-down Western hardware operated by hastily traind conscripts.
It has to move to the front upon a limited number of highways and confront an enemy skilled in the use of artillary.
OK, general, you have more military training than me. Good luck.
Is there a plan to get them a 4th military?
Or has Zalinsky been set up to be offed with the fake “assasination attempt on Putin” so the war can end?
Eastern Ukraine is now Western Russia. The Poles have been eyeing western Ukrain since it was last eastern Poland.
Probably better to put off buying that European wall map you have been looking at.
About the only thing Ukraine can do to score a victory and hope for another round of aid is to attack the Russian ammo storage in Transnistria. None of the experts think this will happen. There is no gain. The Russians will just blow it up if they can’t defend it.
But that is why they will attack.
It is an easy victory with a bang. It makes a good show, generate good numbers on how many Russian assets were destroyed, and looks like victory on paper and in media propaganda.
The Russians would sigh with relief. Maintaining all this old shady ammo costs more than it is worth.
Under normal conditions, the envoronmental scolds frown upon burn pits.

South Korea’s plummeting freedom of press ranking this year, is down 4 places, now even worse than the United States. According to Reporters Without Borders. The biggest factor has been the 50 times the number of cases of criminal defamation suits brought on by the Conservative government against mainline news channels that don’t report what the government wants them to report.
Due to mistrust of the media, Youtube channels are now the main source of the most trusted form of media in South Korea. One of my favorite channels is by a guy who was forced to shut down his channel last year by the government with threats of jail times, as described by CNN:
GI, while I appreciate freedom of speech—and especially the freedom you have given me!!!—I wish we had the option to block or mute the chinabot (or them me).
If that ever becomes an option, much like the fantastic “edith button”, I will be nearly ecstatic.
Not as much as when my wife started creating a fusion variety of Tex-Mex and Korean foods; but your blog will certainly “taste” better to me if I can remove the effluvium.

I disagree.
I think the Chinabots serve a purpose.
Primarily, they give an opporunity to respond to their stupidity with a sound opinion backed up by facts and expressed in a clear way.
While their intention may be to spread intellectual pollution over various topics, the result can be thoughtful and insightful discussion.
Second, as an internet tough guy, I have an outlet to bully the fat dumb kid. I can’t do this in real life, in keeping with my principle that a closed mouth gathers no fist. But short of state-sponsored intimidation, I am pretty safe from harm here. However I can potentially cause it if forced to. That ability has gotten exponentially better in recent years. So I can mess with the spaz kids in a concequence-free environment.
Yet finally, the chinabots are evolving. They are testing various tactics to cause disruption. We have seen promotion of policies that help China but not Korea. We have seen attempts to drive a wedge in the Korea-US alliance. We have seen simple noise hoping to overcome the signal. Now, the tactic is to find faults in Korean politics and society and bring attention to them. I can’t comment because I don’t know much about any of these topics but it doesn’t mean i am not interested.
Telling the truth is a powerful disruptive strategy against those who won’t face it. But it is a powerful tool for improvement handed to those with self-awareness.
In the end, if the chinabots are babbling something with no redeeming value, I have a scroll wheel and I am not afraid to use it.

@Richard,
I was adopted into a family that makes Charles III’s fortune look puny (Romans 8:17).
And, in Asian terms, you’re only rich if you can share, so please read Romans 3:23, 5:8, 6:23, 8:1, 10:9-10, and 10:13.
In other words, if you can admit you’re a sinner, desire to be forgiven, trust Christ as your savior, and call on Him to save you, He will. And then you too can be rich when you share it with others.
Ephesians 2:8-10 shows we are not saved by our works but we are saved by grace through faith God gives us to be able to do the work God created especially for us to do.
Thanks for asking!

How YouTube became a force for free speech in South Korea
By Yoonjung Seo and Andrew Raine, CNN
Updated 3:07 AM EDT, Sun May 7, 2023
YouTube’s most watched daily live program in South Korea might surprise you. It is not about K-pop, it is not a K-drama, and has nothing to do with BlackPink.
The show is called 김어준의 겸손은힘들다.
YouTube has a high penetration in South Korea.
According to Statista, a market and consumer data statistics site, there were over 46 million YouTube users in South Korea as of January this year – more than 90% of the population (compared to over 70% in the United States).
(Kim’s show is) consistently ranked top in terms of real-time daily viewership on YouTube in South Korea.
Every morning at 7:05 a.m., about 160,000 people tune in to hear Kim’s takes on the biggest issues of the day.
Industry observers say the program’s popularity – it has more than 1 million subscribers and can rake in donations of 90 million won ($70,000) a day – reflects a changing media landscape.
Increasingly, they say, current affairs programs are turning to YouTube to disseminate their content, drawn both by large audiences and the perception that the online arena grants greater space for freedom of expression.
Citizens had lost confidence in traditional media and turned to the internet instead, said Rhee June-woong, a professor in communication at Seoul National University.
“We can’t say that traditional newspapers and broadcast media have been completely abandoned, but more and more citizens are dissatisfied with them and are seeking information, interpretation, and expression in internet media,” Rhee said.
Youtube and Google are both banned and blocked in the PRC.

A typical conversation between us Koreans and the Setnaffarians
Koreans : Korea should have a strong self-sufficient defense industry and not depend on the US for its defense needs.
Setnaffarians : You are a chinabot!
Koreans : Korea should have a nuclear deterrent so that it may deter Chinese hegemony and aggression.
Setnaffarians : You are a chinabot!
Koreans : The Korean economy is taking a hit from recent actions by the US such as the IRA and the Chips Act.
Setnaffarians : You are a chinabot!
Koreans : Pres. Yoon is not doing a good job as President.
Setnaffarians :You are a chinabot!
Koreans : Yoon’s wife should be investigated for her alleged role in the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation scandal and if the evidence is against her she should be charged and stand trial.
Setnaffarians : You are a chinabot!

Since our head Setnaffarian loves summaries and does not have the brain power to process complex issues, here are the bullet points and short sentences.
For us Koreans;
The topics we Koreans put up are not pro-China nor are they anti-US, but the views of liberal Koreans who feel we should lessen our dependence on the US. That does not mean we should cut off our alliance with the US.
The reason we do not like Yoon is because of his incompetence and his cronyism.
However by looking at the Setnaffarian comments one could ascertain;
The behavior of the Setnaffarians reflect the behavior of the right wingers who’s favorite tatics are calling those who do not agree with them ‘commies’.
In this case the Setnaffarians use the term ‘chinabot’.
It is the reflection of the low brain power of the Setnaffarians who do not understand the complex issues surrounding Korea and probably don’t want to either.
It is also the reflection of the Setnaffarians who feel that the world should work on their terms only and do not want to hear anything different.
It also shows the racism and the anti-Asian tendencies of the Setnaffarians by the use of term ‘chinabot’
The Head Setnaffarian has also stated that Koreans “love their (right wing) government and those who do not must be Chinese”.
This is also reflective of the racist tendencies of the Head Setnaffarian who is genralizing Koreans, painting Koreans with a wide brush and not recognizing the various political views of the individual Koreans.
It also shows his hypocrisy because he will tell Koreans to rise up against a left wing government.

And from the recent statement that he wants to “mute” the Koreans it seems that he is having trouble countering our logical points and want to call it quits.
Of course if you yourself is illogical, like the Setnaffarians, it doesn’t take long to realize that you cannot counter logical points with illogical points.

Well setnaffa now that you have mentioned it, courtesy of ChatGPT
Hi [setnaffa], I’ve noticed that you tend to blame everything on the Chinese. I understand that you may have concerns or frustrations, but it’s important to remember that attributing blame to an entire group of people based on their ethnicity is unfair and perpetuates harmful stereotypes. It’s crucial to recognize that every individual is unique and should be treated with respect and dignity.
Blaming an entire ethnicity for the actions of a few individuals overlooks the diversity within that group and the many positive contributions they have made to society. It’s more productive to focus on addressing specific issues or concerns without generalizing or singling out a particular ethnicity.
I encourage you to seek out diverse perspectives and learn more about the rich cultures, histories, and accomplishments of different Asian communities. Engaging in open-minded conversations and challenging our own biases can lead to a greater understanding of one another and a more inclusive society. Let’s work together to build bridges and foster empathy instead of perpetuating division.”
Remember to maintain a respectful tone, avoid personal attacks, and promote open dialogue. While changing someone’s perspective might not happen immediately, planting seeds of empathy and understanding can lead to personal growth over time.
