Hyundai and Kia Suppliers Found to Be Using Child Labor in the U.S.

This is another reason why something needs to be done about illegal immigration, to stop the exploitation of children:

Vehicles are loaded onto train cars at the Kia assembly plant in West Point, Georgia, U.S., Dec. 12. Reuters-Yonhap

At least four major suppliers of Hyundai Motor and sister Kia have employed child labor at Alabama factories in recent years, a Reuters investigation found, and state and federal agencies are probing whether kids have worked at as many as a half dozen additional manufacturers throughout the automakers’ supply chain in the southern U.S. state.

At a plant owned by Hwashin America, a supplier to the two car brands in the south Alabama town of Greenville, a 14-year-old Guatemalan girl worked this May assembling auto body components, according to interviews with her father and law enforcement officials. (……)

Earlier this year, Reuters showed how staffing agencies in rural Alabama recruited undocumented workers from Central America, including minors who had entered the U.S. without parents or guardians, and supplied them to chicken processing plants.

As with those minors, at least some of the children who worked at Hyundai suppliers used false identities and documentation obtained through black-market brokers, sometimes with the help of staffing firms themselves.

There need to be people fired, indicted, and prosecuted. And all companies involved fined heavily. And it’s very likely not just a couple of Korean companies. And investigate the finances of the governmentvfolks who should have caught this.

Of course, if the Feds let them in, you know justice will never happen in our lifetimes.

Illegal aliens, especially children, are very important to the American economy.

For example, the company I work for only exists due to undocumented workers, and for that I am grateful.

It turns out when a company wants to build a factory or mine or toxic waste dump, there is a real risk of a green group finding some insect or weed that is endangered.

Native Americans are always lurking around to yell about sacred land if one of their members died in the area while on a rodent hunt or foraging for grubs or whatever indigenous people do when they aren’t curing cancer.

Starting construction can be held up for years as expensive lawsuits work their way through the court system. This can be tens of millions of dollars per year.

The solution can sometimes be to just pay off the complainers, but this encourages more complainers with their hands out.

So my company had a team of biologists and archeologists who look at satallite photos and do field surveys.

They make a list of all endangered species and burial sites and such.

Then this information is found by an illegal alien subcontractor that isolates them from liability.

The undocumented subcontractor employees hundreds of undocumented workers who go through the area very thoroughly and pull up all the endangered plants and collect all the endangered animals. Children are especially good at this.

(I have never seen so many owls in one pile as I did on a site visit a few years ago.)

The government knows about this but “Illegal Aliens Driving Endangered American Species to Extenction” doesn’t fit the narrative so they don’t do anything, preferring just to ignore it.

My company has to pay an occasional fine as a formality, but a couple million here and there is nothing compared to their fees. The government just wants a cut.

This is a growth industry and my company is expanding like crazy, hiring more and more skilled workers while the illegal alien side is always building more teams and keeping children employeed walking through the desert and collecting endangered rattlesnakes or whatever job lazy adults are unwilling to do. And they work for less than half wages.

This keeps the American economy rolling and, for that, we shouldn’t look too closely at the age of our contributing workers.

Why do American companies keep using child labor? Koreans believe in educating children, not forcing them to work in factories. Americans are immoral, doing this to kids.

You certainly have a point.

It wasn’t so long ago that Korean parents sacrificed to get their sons an education.

Why, I remember some of the Korean girls working around the military base had been been sold into a life of indentured servitude to fund their brother’s education.

After graduating, he would come back and collect his sister by paying the debt… plus interest… plus fines… etc.

It didn’t always work out that way, though.

Sometimes after getting that job, the brother figured a working man shouldn’t be riding the bus.

And since car payments don’t make themselves… well… she can wait a couple more years.

None-the-less, you are right.

Ajuma got up at 5am so she could get the best price on fish heads at the market. Then she spent all morning cooking in preparation of rhe lunch crowd. Maybe she got a nap between 2 and 4 before the dinner crowd trickled in. And she served the soju drinkers until 2am… or 4am.

And she did this for years and years to fund her son’s education.

He went off to university and got a degree in international business management studies.

Now he is a 2nd assistant manager at an international company, McNoodle Inc., where he puts packaged noodles with essence of fish head in the microwave for 10 hours a day.

I’m not dissing Korea with this second story here… just pointing out one of the many wonders of globalism where inedible Shake Shack has a line and Mr. Kim’s Burgers never recovered from needless covid lockdowns.

I can tell you a worse story about the America kid who went 80 grand into debt for a degree in Basket Weaving and Gender.

But like I always say, old enough to cut off your weener and change your gender, old enough to go into a lifetime of debt slavery.

Besides, don’t get all huffy about child labor. It’s not like they are white children. They are from Guatemala or some place where kids are used to working straight 12s in the sun. They are just glad ti have at least one shoe and not the be dying of cholera.
