Netflix Hosts Squid Game Parade in Seoul

I don’t get what people find so great about Squid Game, but obviously some people really love it to justify holding a parade in Seoul to promote its third season:

“Squid Game” swept through Seoul on Saturday night as a large-scale parade featuring towering character installations and figurines from the Netflix megahit marched through the heart of the city, drawing crowds of eager fans along Sejong-daero.

Co-hosted by Netflix and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the parade kicked off at around 7:50 p.m., about 20 minutes behind schedule. Held to celebrate the premiere of the show’s third and final season, which debuted on Netflix on Friday, the procession traveled from Gwanghwamun to Seoul Plaza in front of Seoul City Hall.

Former President Bill Clinton Seen Sight Seeing in Seoul

Bill Clinton was touring the sites in downtown Seoul and what I found of interest is who I did not see with him, which is Hillary Clinton:

Photos and videos of former U.S. President Bill Clinton apparently sightseeing in central Seoul have been shared online, raising speculation over the nature of seemingly his first visit to South Korea in decades.

The posts, shared on social media and online communities, showed the former U.S. president reportedly visiting the Gwanghwamun and Insadong areas, popular tourist destinations in the South Korean capital, on Sunday.

Some posts showed Clinton taking photos with locals and exchanging conversation.

During his presidency, Clinton visited South Korea in November 1998 for a summit with then South Korean President Kim Dae-jung.

Chinese Government Reportedly Bought Land Near Future U.S. Embassy in Seoul

Well at least the ROK and the U.S. will know where the Chinese spies will be working out of:

The Chinese government owns 11 plots of land in Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, central Seoul, which sit between 1 and 1.5 kilometers from the proposed future site of the US Embassy and South Korea’s current presidential office, according to a local media report Wednesday.

Asia Business Daily reported that the People’s Republic of China acquired ownership of the land spanning 4,100 square meters in December 2018 for about 29.9 billion won ($21.9 million). It marked the first time that a foreign government’s direct land purchase in the Yongsan area was disclosed to the public.

The properties are at the southern foot of Namsan, just before entering Namsan Tunnels No. 2 and 3 from Noksapyeong-daero in Itaewon-dong. The site previously operated as an outdoor golf driving range for more than 40 years but shut down around the time the land changed hands. Several buildings on the site remain unoccupied.

The Itaewon-dong location sits approximately 1 to 1.5 kilometers from the current presidential office in Samgakji, current presidential residence in Hannam-dong, and the former Camp Coiner site — the designated location for the new US Embassy — all in the district of Yongsan-gu.

Man in Hospital Gown Goes on a Knife Stabbing Rampage in Northern Seoul Supermarket

It sounds like this guy might of walked out of mental hospital to commit this stabbing attack in a Seoul supermarket which tragically led to one woman being killed:

A woman was killed and another wounded Tuesday after a man went on a stabbing rampage in Seoul, police said.

The suspect in his 30s stabbed the two women while wielding a knife at a supermarket near Mia Station in northern Seoul at around 6:20 p.m., according to the police.

One of the victims in her 60s was transported to a nearby hospital in cardiac arrest but later pronounced dead.

The second victim in her 40s is receiving treatment at a hospital, and she is not in critical condition.

The suspect was detained shortly after the incident and is currently under investigation.

The motive behind the attack was not immediately known, and the suspect and the victims were not acquainted, according to the police officials.

The suspect reportedly opened a package containing the weapon inside the supermarket before launching the attack. He was wearing a hospital gown at that time, they added.
