Woman Spends Three Hours on a Bus Next to a Pervert

What I don’t get is why this woman did not report to the bus driver what was happening, especially when the bus arrived at the rest stop?:

A woman had to endure three hours inside a bus next to a male stranger flashing his genitalia while traveling from Busan to Jeonju in January. Korea Times file

The nightmare trip began when she heard the announcement to fasten her seatbelt. As she fastened hers, she saw the man unzipping his pants and taking out his genitalia. She was shocked, but did not show any reaction, fearing that he would harm her.

When the bus reached a rest stop about halfway to Jeonju, she got off the bus and waited, trying to change her seat when she got back on. But she couldn’t because there were no empty seats. She took her seat next to him again, and he continued exposing himself.

She entered a message in her mobile device and handed it to a person behind her while hoping the pervert wouldn’t notice. The person behind her took the phone and saw what she wrote: “the man next to me is flashing and I want to record proof but I am too afraid. Please do it for me.”

The plan worked and she received back the phone with a video record of the man. Then she texted police to report what was happening.

Kim Jong-un Changes His Position in English from Chairman to President

It looks like Kim Jong-un is trying to make himself look more legitimate to English readers:

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is now using “president” as his official title in English, instead of “chairman” as he has used in the past, according to the North’s state media.

The English service of the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) has been using president rather than chairman since Feb. 12 a report about Kim’s attendance at a Lunar New Year performance with leading members of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK).

Since then, the KCNA has been referring to him as the “general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).” The DPRK is North Korea’s official name.

Assault Charges Dropped Against Rape Victim Who Bit Off Attackers Tongue

This guy picks up a drunk women, restrains her with duct tape, and then claims he is the victim. Maybe this claim would of worked 20 years ago, but not today in Korea:

A hiking road on Mount Hwangnyeong in Busan’s Yeonje District.

The prosecution has dropped an assault case brought up against a woman who escaped an alleged rape attempt by biting off her attacker’s tongue, in recognition of self-defense.

The decision by the Busan District Public Prosecutors’ Office last week is expected to set a meaningful precedent in a country where self-defense is rarely recognized. In a similar case in 1965, a victim, Choi Mal-ja, received a suspended prison term, which she is now seeking to rectify through a retrial.

The recent case involved a female university student who took a trip to Busan with three friends on July 19, 2020. According to documents obtained by the Hankook Ilbo, sister paper of The Korea Times, a man in his 30s offered her a ride after spotting her obviously drunk ― with an alleged intention to rape her. She got into the passenger’s seat, thinking he was a taxi driver.

On his way to a remote place, he bought duct tape, a pack of condoms and three bottles of soju. The man parked in the middle of the road on Mount Hwangnyeong in the city’s Yeonje District, and shoved his tongue in her mouth ― and she bit it off.

Man Reportedly Swam 6 Hours in Open Ocean Waters to Defect Across the DMZ

The ROK needs to sign this guy up for the Olympics if actually did pull off this swim:

Lt. Gen. Park Jeong-hwan, head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff’s chief directorate of operations, reports on a North Korean man’s crossing into South Korea on Feb. 16, 2021, at the National Assembly in Seoul the next day. (Yonhap)

Questions have arisen over how a North Korean man was able to have crossed the inter-Korean sea border to defect by swimming for six hours in winter, and calls have grown for authorities to explain the case.

According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), the man, whose identity is withheld, was captured on Tuesday following a three-hour manhunt near the inter-Korean border in the eastern coastal town of Goseong. He expressed his intention to defect.

Defense Minister Suh Wook told lawmakers on Wednesday that the man is believed to have swum for six hours in the East Sea overnight wearing a hard-hat diving suit and a set of fins. Given his footprints were found some 3 kilometers south of the military demarcation line separating the two Koreas, he is likely to have moved around 10 km in the sea.

But many have pointed to unfavorable weather conditions on the day. The water temperature reached 8 degrees Celsius at that time, and a high sea warning was issued in the East Sea. The weather agency also issued a cold wave advisory for most of the country, including Gangwon Province.

“Our judgment based on initial data was that survival in waters of such conditions was not possible. But we learned later that he layered clothes and then tightly wore a waterproof-type suit to keep himself from getting soaked,” Suh said during a parliamentary policy briefing session.

The man, in his 20s, is believed to be familiar with ocean circumstances, according to military sources.

Army Announces that the ACFT Will No Longer Be Gender Neutral

Here is the latest update on the highly controversial Army Combat Fitness Test:

The Army could adjust how it scores its new Combat Fitness Test to account for the “biological differences” between men and women, a service spokeswoman said Friday.

The reevaluation of the ACFT comes weeks after Congress delayed its implementation over concerns the new test created an unfair disadvantage to female soldiers.

Army leaders are now looking at ways to apply scoring based on gender for the six-event, CrossFit-inspired fitness test, said Lt. Col. Peggy Kageleiry, a spokeswoman for the Army’s Center for Initial Military Training, which has led the ACFT’s development. The test was designed as a gender- and age-neutral fitness evaluation meant to simulate strength and conditioning challenges faced by soldiers in combat.
