Report Claims South Korea is Considering Sending Troops to Defend Strait of Hormuz
No decision has been made but the ROK government is clearly considering it:
South Korea’s presidential office on Thursday rejected a report claiming the government is considering sending troops to the conflict-stricken Hormuz Strait.
“It is different from the facts. Details related to the issue have yet to be decided,” Cheong Wa Dae said in a notice to reporters.
The presidential office reiterated its previous stance that South Korea has been in discussions with other nations on how it could contribute to restoring peace and stability in the Middle East and inside the strait.
Earlier in the day, local broadcaster JTBC reported that the government is “leaning toward” dispatching troops to the Strait of Hormuz and is reviewing related details to submit a request for a parliamentary approval to the National Assembly.
You can read more at the link. However, sending a detachment of troops to the UAE for example, for a counter drone mission would help a key ROK partner in the Middle East and win favor with President Trump.

Yet another benefit of this low-intensity (but high impact) war is the amazing advances in American sensor, data, and next generation weapons technology fighting the exact war that will define the next decades.
It would be to Korea economic benefit to give some real-world demonstrations of the unproven military equipment they really want to sell the world… and improve it under real testing…
…counter drone, missile defense, radar and sensor systems, surveillance UAVs, naval mine detection, electronic warfare, c&c/sensor fusion.
If Korea would show these off successfully, the order would roll in.
If this is discouraged by the Korean government in a war where the perfect enemy exists (attacking civilian targets, affecting global economy, etc) it indicates sabotage in the same way Moon tried to sabotage Korea’s nuclear industry and energy independence.
Let’s see if Korea is serious about selling weapons and protecting their oil supply.

So you want to test out these weapons by risking soldiers’ lives needlessly, in a totally useless war that was planned over 45 years ago by a madman. I don’t think Korea needs to test these weapons in a real war. Their weapons are selling well without testing them in wars. For example, the US military bought some Korean K-9 Thunders and wants Koreans to make battleships for the US Navy. No need to test them in wars.
