When I first saw the videos of these deadly flash floods in Nepal, it looked like it was AI-generated, but it wasn’t. The wall of water caused by the glacial collapse created an incredible wall of water that led to mass destruction:
President Lee Jae Myung called for using all available means in response to deadly flooding in Nepal that left nine Koreans missing, leading a government-wide effort during an emergency meeting, Thursday.
He also underscored cooperation with the Nepali government, urging the authorities to activate every diplomatic channel.
“We have convened this unscheduled emergency meeting because the lives and safety of our citizens are at grave risk,” Lee said as he presided over the gathering at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in central Seoul, a day after the disaster struck Nepal.
The nine missing Koreans are three employees of Korea South-East Power Co. and six from Doosan Enerbility, all of whom were working on the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in the Rasuwa region. They are among the more than 820 people missing. So far, the death toll has surpassed 270.
Another 10 Doosan Enerbility employees had been stranded in the affected area alongside about 200 Nepali and other foreign workers.
Nine of them were evacuated to safety by a Nepali military helicopter later Thursday, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The remaining employee, a site manager, reportedly chose to stay behind with two Korean Embassy officials until all local workers were rescued.

The chunk of glacier broke off and fell to the valley below because of climate change.
But of course considering the Setnaffarians want to drive around in their gas guzzling pickup trucks, it’s in their interests to suppress the climate change theories.
Additionally since they are paid by China, the biggest emitter of greenhouse gases, it’s the Setnaffarians’ job to deflect the climate change theories and project the image that climate change doesn’t exist.

To expand on the past comment, consider this:
– Smartphones brought in a sensor revolution. AI brought in a cognative revolution. We are only a few years away from a robotics revolution. At that point there will be little need for no-skill people and little need for obsolete skilled people. Government will not let them starve in the street. Government will redistribute my surplus labor to them… surplus labor I have because I practiced delayed gratification while they fùcked off.
– I am buffered from these effects more than the majority of society, as I have solid usable assets, no debt, cash, and several skillsets that are still needed even as AI and robotics encroach. In an apocalyptic situation, I can produce food at a scale most people cannot. This preparation and lifestyle were a choice because they had little effect on my quality of life, and security gives me peace of mind. I see most people making the wrong life choices and I have lost pity for them. Most of them will fully deserve what they get¹.
¹We already see that with English teachers. They pay has not gone up while life expenses have. The job has become more structured but harder work and less satisfying. Old English teachers lose good jobs to young ones. There are a lot of broke-dìck 40s and 50s English teachers I told 10+ years ago they needed more English “education” certifications or a different skillset to thrive in future Korea. “But but but.” And some of them were downright hostile in their rationalizations of why they didn’t have to self-improve. All I heard was, “I don’t need no man.”
