According to Article 34, Paragraph 4.3 of FIFA regulations, all World Cup players and squad members are banned from displaying political messages in any language or format from before the match starts until after it ends.
After the semifinal match held in Atlanta, Georgia, the Argentine squad posed with a banner claiming sovereignty over the Falklands Islands.
In 2012, Park Jong-woo displayed a banner reading ‘Dokdo is Our Land’ after securing a bronze medal at the London Olympics.
