Happy 250th Birthday to the .@USNavy! For 250 years, America’s Navy has been the decisive symbol of our strength—securing sea lanes, delivering peace through strength, and deterring adversaries while assuring allies. Fair winds and following seas! #USNavy250pic.twitter.com/tDaSRzG8Zy
The Continental Navy, a completely different organization under a completely different political structure, was founded 250 years ago but was disbanded 10 years before the Navy was founded.
This sounds like stolen valor.
What the Navy should say is, “We proudly started 231 years ago with our first mission of kicking Muslim àss and freeing white slaves. And we will goddàm do it again.”
Then fire a salvo of Tomahawks into Tripoli for old time’s sake.
Though, in fairness, the modern Arab and Berber slave markets of Libya seem only to be trafficking in sub-Saharan Africans, so maybe let them be.
Lolwot?
The Navy was founded in 1794.
