They have severe domestic issues, up to and including failures within the central banks, factories burning from sabotage by unpaid workers a daily event), widespread and increasing unemployment among all economic levels, and even some splintering of Xi’s support among top CCP members.
They want an external conflict to misdirect the peoples’ attention. And they’re still craven and gormless unless they have their target isolated and outnumbered.
From what I’ve seen, South Korea, Japan, and the Philippines together are enough without external assistance to take on Winnie the POG’s cardboard “fleet”. And with assistance from The US, Australia, and India–heck, even the Equadorian Coast Guard against their ecological destruction fleet–the Chinese would be forced to either replace Winnie and play nice, or “go full retard”.
