Former Head of the International Criminal Court Says Ukraine Could File War Crime Charges Against Kim Jong-un

This would be very interesting to see what would happen if Ukraine did in fact attempt to file war crime charges against Putin and Kim Jong-un. However, I don’t see that happening any time soon because such actions would definitely negatively impact any ceasefire negotations:

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un could face a war crime probe at the Hague-based International Criminal Court (ICC) for supporting Russia’s war against Ukraine, a former chief of the ICC said Monday, adding that it is the right time for Kim to be brought to justice.

Song Sang-hyun, former president of the ICC, made the remarks at an international conference in Seoul, as North Korea confirmed for the first time last month that it has deployed troops to Russia to support Moscow’s war against Ukraine.

Kim has not yet been referred to the ICC despite his human rights violations in North Korea, but legal standards have been met now for Ukraine to pursue a case against him at the ICC over the North’s assistance in the Russia-Ukraine war, the former ICC president noted.

“The time is right to bring Kim Jong-un before the ICC,” Song said in his keynote speech at the event, adding that Pyongyang’s military assistance to Russia provided Ukraine with the legal standards to file a complaint against North Korea as a victim.

“There is an opportunity for Ukrainian authorities, as the victim, to file a complaint against North Korea with the ICC,” Song said. “While a complaint filed by Ukraine would be very ideal, the ICC also has the authority to initiate an independent investigation.”

For what, assisting Russia expelling the Ukraine invasion of the Kursk region of Russia? nK isn’t in any of the contested areas of Ukraine.

Let’s get this straight.

Ukraine invades Russia.

NK fights only on Russian soil to help an ally repel an invasion that victimized Russian civilians.

NK is guilty of wAr CrImEs.

This is why America ignores the ICC.

Bonus: How can everyone ignore what Ukraine has done against the culturally Russian in Ukraine since 2014 yet Putin is a war criminal?

Doesn’t matter.

I stand with Ukraine.

When Ukraine was a black hole for American tax dollars, Russia couldn’t win quickly enough.

Now that America gets a piece of the action on all Ukranian exploitation, every bit of land taken by those filthy Russians comes right out of the mouths of American babies.

It’s time to beat them back to pre-invasion borders.

Ukraine has an untapped population of teenagers begging to join the fight!

“However maybe a prosecutor can make the argument that the missiles the Kim regime is selling to Russia to launch into Ukraine which has targeted a number of civilian areas is a war crime?”

That would be a clever legal trick until somebody asked, “What has Ukraine been doing since 2014 and who supplied the weapons for them to do it?”

Despite the western propaganda, Russia has been quite careful about targeting civilians.

– they don’t want to feed western propaganda

– the nature of their military operation is not built on terror so an attack is wasted on a civilian target

– most of the civilians in eastern Ukraine are culturally Russian and are, or will become, Russian and there is no gain in attacking them

– all civilian infrastructure that Russia destroys has to be rebuilt by Russia

– even a few minutes of investigation shows the missile hits on civilian targets are the results of successful anti-missike defense. The Russian missile never made it to the military target but it had to go somewhere.

It would be a very hard case to demonstrate Russia’s intentional targeting of civilians.

It wouldn’t be quite so hard to demonstrate that for Ukraine. And it wouldn’t be quite so hard to show the west continued to supply weapons even after this was established.

And that is why nothing will happen and everyone will be quiet after a bit of noise.

You all think Li’l Kim is a madman shooting missiles into the sea.

But for all these years, he has quietly been the only thing keeping us safe from Godzilla.

A little more appriciation is in order.
