Picture of the Day: Tractor Protest

Farmers drive tractors through the rain in Geumcheon Ward, southwestern Seoul, on their way to a protest rally downtown on May 10, 2025, calling for a halt to rice imports. Some 1,500 police officers later blocked their advance out of concerns of traffic jams. (Yonhap)

This reminds me of Tractor Kim.
He was a crazy tractor enthusiast who lived in Seoul in the early 2000s and used to block traffic driving his slow tractor through the city.
He loved everything tractor.
In his aparment, he had posters of tractors, models of tractors, and even a bed shaped like a tractor.
He would play videos of tractors at full volume.
All of his clothes had tractor logos.
Finally, they branded him a nuisance and confiscated his tractor.
But that didn’t stop him. He was still all about tractors.
He somehow got a BIGGER tractor and drove it through the streets of Seoul, blocking even more traffic.
Eventually, they confiscated that, too.
And then he bought a hot rod tractor. He had been slow before but suddenly he became dangerous with 5 tons of tractor weaving in and out of traffic with no mufllers and belching flames through 8 upward pipes when he hit the gas.
They confiscated it and sent him somewhere for treatment. He was missing for over a year.
When he showed back up, he was driving a car and wearing normal clothes. He seemed to have no interest in tractors.
This went on for a couple of years and the memory of him faded.
But one day he was on the street and the first floors of a building were on fire with billowing black smoke and a bunch of kids trapped in a 4th floor hogwon. There was no way they could be saved.
He rushed to the flames and begin waving his arms in a crazy manor. People were yelling at him to get away.
But somehow the smoke started blowing past him quickly instead of going up to the children. The flames withered as if they had blown out. The children rushed down the stairs and were saved.
This was all over the news but none of this made sense to anyone who witnessed it. A lot of people guessed it was just a coincidence with wind.
In one interview, though, he did say he was an ex tractor fan.
Well-played sir. Well-played indeed.
Look how spic and span those trucks looks.. these idiots don’t even work.. they just complain and want more pay..
