Well, in America, people find strict definitions of “woman” controversial, and you can’t state the simple fact that a “trans” woman is still biologically male without causing controversy, so maybe Korea is following the US off the same cliff. If so, that would be a shame.

Back to Joshua’s point, between 1945 and 1950, Korean “left” and “right” wing groups killed each other quite freely, including the murder of children by both “sides”.
The controversy may be that an honest appraisal makes all involved look bad and South Koreans might need to stop fighting with each other (and their allies), apologize to each other, and start getting back to making Korea great again.
