President Moon and Yoon Suk-yeol Meet; Moon Vows to Help with Relocation of Presidential Office

President Moon has quickly changed his mind about helping the Yoon administration move the Presidential office:

President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol talks with President Moon Jae-in during their meeting at Cheong Wa Dae, Monday. Yonhap

President Moon Jae-in said he will “cooperate” with President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol’s plan to relocate the presidential office, Monday, during their first meeting that came 19 days after the presidential election on March 9.

“President Moon said the decision over the location of the presidential office is fully up to the incoming government,” Yoon’s Chief of Staff Rep. Chang Je-won said during a press briefing held after the meeting. “As an outgoing president, he said he will thoroughly look into the budget related to the relocation plan and cooperate with the president-elect.”

His remarks came days after the two sides had clashed over Yoon’s bid to set up a new presidential office at the defense ministry compound in Seoul’s Yongsan District, and begin his presidency there. Moon had earlier dismissed Yoon’s proposal to finance his presidential office relocation plan from the state reserve fund.

Maybe a way to avoid a prison term like he dished out to Lee and Park?

Something sketchy is going on.

This silly move is oddly important to the incoming administration.

Now the outgoing administration is on board.

We can speculate a range of possibilities, from Yoon knowing he is going to be a wartime president to a globalist plot to generate a window of extreme military weakness… but no way to know at the moment.

This is something to keep an eye on. It likely indicates something far deeper than it appears.

In Korea, it is customary to not speak directly on what is on one’s mind and instead make statements and other signals to give others the opportunity to figure out what that person is really thinking.

It is maddening but it’s how things work here.

“President Moon said the decision over the location of the presidential office is fully up to the incoming government,”

In a way I think Moon is saying if you want to move the Blue House, fine, but do it on your watch not mine.

“As an outgoing president, he said he will thoroughly look into the budget related to the relocation plan and cooperate with the president-elect.”

The key words here are “outgoing president.” Moon has about six weeks left in his term. There are some things he can do and some things he can’t do in the remaining time.

As president-elect, Yoon can receive funding for his personal security, for his transistion team, and expenses as per current government budget, which probably had previously been set aside in anticipation of the election of a new president.

Moon can probably instruct his aides to look over Yoon’s funding request and see if there’s any money left over for Yoon’s new office plans, but considering additional budgets have to go through the National Assemby, if more is needed, there isn’t much they can do.

My guess is the Blue House might eke out some money for initial planning, design of the new offices, and for the system contractors to buy necessary tools and equipment and figure out how to move the command and control equipment, but nothing for the actual works and move of the Defense Ministry staff, itself.

If anyone in Yoon’s camp makes a big fuss, the Blue House can say
“The president did say that he will review the request and cooperate, which he did. He didn’t say he will provide all of the requested money.”

So unlike what GIKorea is claiming, I wouldn’t exactly say that Moon has “changed his mind”.

Most probably, all Moon did was to cool things down a bit for the sake of moving things along.

There are so many issues that’s facing this country, and this piece of feces is making huge unnecessary waves by insisting on putting all the focus and energy on……. moving. What a joke of an idiot.
