Picture of the Day: ROK Navy Helps with Vaccine Efforts

Helped by sailors, a resident from a remote island arrives on South Korea’s first military training vessel, Hansando (rear), off Jin Island, South Jeolla Province, southwestern South Korea, on June 21, 2021, after a high-speed boat carrying her was hauled onto the ship’s stern. The Navy has conducted an operation to help residents from remote islands, which are devoid of medical facilities, receive shots of COVID-19 vaccines at a mass vaccination center installed on the ship. The 4,500-ton Hansando is equipped with the largest medical center and the highest number of sickbeds among the country’s warships. (Yonhap)

A “helicopter training ship” with a crew of 150 and a 400 bed hospital…
Looks very stylish. Glad to see they’re being very flexible with their frigate designs.
Good to see these remote islands getting the help they need.
Reminds me of the time the New World got protected from smallpox.
But at least they had plenty of blankets…
The blanket story appears to be mostly a myth… with the only documented case being an attempt by the British in the 1760s rather than cowboys or American military. It didn’t work because, by then, the Indians were carriers rather than victims. The smallpox the British tried to give the demanding Indians (on 2 blankets and a scarf) had actually come from the Indians.
The Spanish brought smallpox around 1520 (via an infected African slave) and it killed 90% of the indigenous population.
When eurofags starts yapping about Americans killing Indians or having slaves, tell them to go get fùcked.
