South Korea is Reportedly Offering the Biden Administration a Diplomatic Favor in Return for COVID Vaccines

It would be interesting to see what the Biden administration would ask for diplomatically in return for this favor if they do indeed grant this request from the Moon administration:

Work to unload 250,000 doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine from a UPS cargo plane is under way at Incheon International Airport, Wednesday. Yonhap

As a “swap” deal with the United States is emerging as a temporary fix to address Korea’s shortage of COVID-19 vaccines, Seoul will find itself in the position of looking at how to return Washington’s favor diplomatically, according to diplomatic observers, Thursday.

With a mere 3.41 percent of the country’s 52 million population having received shots since the government began its vaccination campaign Feb. 26, due to the shortage, Korea has turned to its long-time ally for help as the U.S. has enough vaccines for every single American, according to President Joseph Biden.

Korea pays only 3% less for base upkeep instead of 50% less?

The US already bullied their way into “diplomatic favor”. Moving the South Korean electric car battery factories to the US to keep floating the US auto industry. Moving 5G technology jobs to the US, to keep the US communication infrastructure updated. Moving South Korean semiconductor factories to keep just about every US industries including defence, operating, and to keep the big bad China from being number one. South Korea even gave the US, masks/PPE/Covid test kits early in the pandemic. Not to mention a 13% increase in USFK base support which is a follow up of another 8% increase the previous year on top of the $5 billion a year demand. All this comes at the US pressure on South Korea to stop doing business with its number one trading partner. The US can keep their vaccines, how about just leave South Korea alone?

Some people enjoy life and celebrate all the good things available in South Korea and the USA. Some do their best to spread hate. I really pity the second group.

Imagine having such a shriveled soul that April in Korea doesn’t fill you with wonder and joy? I’ve only been there twice in April; but the cherry blossoms, those golden flowers, and the beautiful simplicity of Korea–even in Seoul (even in Yoido!)–was really the same as the first time I saw an old growth redwood forest, the wonder of the “barren” rocks in Monument Valley, Yosemite, Niagara Falls, or little children playing around the ruins of Donnington Castle just outside Newbury, Berkshire, UK.

I really can’t understand how a love of Korea–especially at this time–could translate into hating anything. How very sad and lonely that must feel.

Mind you, the traffic can be murder; but we choose what we focus on.

Well, there isn’t much that Korea can offer to the US in terms of ‘diplomatic favors.’ There is however one thing that Korea can do that can be considered as a ‘diplomatic favor’. That is cease and desist its various and never ending campaigns to get apologies and compensation from Japan in regard to laborers and comfort women.

Korea’s spats with Japan may be bit of headache for the US considering the rising Chinese power in the Pacific. So, if Korea stops the squabbling, it’s one less headache for the US.

Of course that would mean Moon pretty much cutting lose his hard core leftist-nationalist support base. But of course that support base won’t be much help if voters in general turn their backs for his failure to get more vaccines.

Now Korean Man has a sock puppet?

Japan *is* amazing. They talked many Americans into paying more for small portions of raw fish than they were paying for expertly cooked versions of the same.

They ahowed Americans how to revitalize the automobile industry; but politics and collective bargaining units quickly ended Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Buick sedans, making Japanese models the only real choices.

Mind you, they also kick-started the Chinese economy by trying to move factories there when theirvown labor got too expensive, so when we say “China is asshoe”, we need to remember who taught them.

And now South Korea needs to decide who is the bigger threat before Beijing or Pyongyang owns the Blue House.

It is up to them, after all. They should just be wary of stepping in something they can’t really wipe off their shoe.

Better to be a sock puppet than a Shinzo Abe’s honorary Japanese underling. Shouldn’t you be more worried about your admirer’s Olympic obsession during a covid medical collapse? Fraudulent coverups are now a imprinted culture along with faxes and stamps. Such a backwardness still doesn’t stop them from claiming themselves as the master race in Asia. It was absolutely hilarious to see Japan PM Suga mumbling and trembling in front of Biden for 20 minutes while Biden ate a hamburger. Let’s see how long the US will use Japan before the US throws Japan under the bus.

I believe that Korean Man has all but admitted to using sock puppets which helps prove setnaffa’s previous comments about him.

Other than that, Korean Man cracks me up every time.

As for the burgers, I believe both of them did not consume their meals.

Speaking of burgers, wasn’t it Trump who stated that he will serve foreign guests, hamburgers? Kind of strange to see Biden implementing that.

Mind you, (Japan) also kick-started the Chinese economy by trying to move factories there when their own labor got too expensive

ROK currently has 50% more invested in China than Japan, and this is after Samsung, Lotte and Hyundai left China after Moon Jae-in refused to back down on THAAD.

Not sure if Jpop is bigger than Kpop in China. Ask CH … he’s the resident ROKDROP musik expert.

Stephen, ROK has 100% more invested in the US, than Japan. The proposed $25 billion Samsung semiconductor factories in Texas and Arizona alone dwarf any of the Japanese car investments even if you add up all the auto factory investments in the US, that Japan has made dating back decades ago. There are only two companies from two countries right now that can turn out the required semiconductors that go into everything from your cars to computers to electronic gadgets to military jet planes. That’s Samsung from South Korea and TSMC from Taiwan. On the other hand, American chip company Intel has failed in their bid to upgrade their technology and stay relevant while still stuck on 10 year old 14-nano technology while the other two companies are already planning for the 3-nano chip foundries. Samsung has even invented the 0-nano technology. Semiconductors are what the US is trying to use as a weapon to counter China’s rise. And the semiconductor blockade on Huawei is the reason why that company is stopping everything and going into pig farming industry. That is also the reason why the US is constantly pressuring South Korea to join the Quad, and the US is also suddenly interested in protecting Taiwan. Without the US bullying, those Samsung semiconductor factories would have been built in South Korea, adding to South Korean GDP and South Korean exports to the United States – instead of being added to the American economy.

Our Chinese trolls have no actual concept of how capitalism works. They actually believe economics is a zero-sum game. And they act like them writingvsomething ends the discussion forever.

Bah! Humbug!

I really wish China would send us someone who bothered to actually read up on the subjects they always spew about. Even if they want to push Maoist malarkey, they should understand (at a minimum) Jeremy Rifkin, John Maynard Keynes, Milton Friedman, and Ayn Rand. They should be able to delelop competently-constructed paragraphs that flow together and persuade the reader.

Really sad that a would-be superpower can’t come up with better advocates. It’s like they just don’t care to try. I know they don’t really like us; but this is pretty lame.
