Businesses Outside of Seoul Now Allowed to Operate Until 10:00 PM

Some further relief for business owners in South Korea:

Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun speaks during a goverment response meeting on COVID-19 in Seoul on Feb. 6, 2021.

The government said Saturday it will allow businesses outside the greater Seoul area to operate until 10 p.m. starting next week, relaxing the distancing rules amid growing discontent over the prolonged virus curbs.

The revised measure will permit businesses like restaurants and fitness clubs to extend their operating hours by one hour under Level 2 distancing currently imposed on the provincial regions, Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun said in a government response meeting.

“After careful deliberation based on the various opinions from all walks of life, we are adjusting the business hours for publicly used facilities,” he said.

“We are almost out of the crumbs of stimulus money for bribes to angry business owners. What do we do?”

“Maybe if we fùck them very slightly less with a very slightly better arbitrary closing time, we can slip in weeks 9 and 10 of small business-killing restrictions without street demonstrations.”

“But how are we going to slip in weeks 11 and 12, we are almost out of tricks.”

“Ah… we announce a free job retraining program for small business owners who have gone out of business during these fake lockdowns designed to kill small business and promote the multinationals.”

“Good idea! Basically, sorry your coffee shop went out of business because we made it happen but we have free government funded training available so you can transition to assistant manager trainee at Starbucks.”

“Yep. Eventually, we will have everyone working for the multinationals and the banks owning the buildings where they used to pay rent. Also, when they lose their apartments to the bank, they can be rented back to them indefinitely. It’s about time to double the cost of alcohol and cigarettes as well as enforcing limits on house guests so once the commercial nightlife is destroyed, the private nightlife can be destroyed too. We need everyone home making babies and fresh to go in the morning to serve their new corporate overlords.”

I’ve seen crumbs in my life; but the dude making up these science-denying rules is a whole coffee cake. And not in a good way.

The “frogs” are being boiled so slowly that they think it’s a 찜질방, not a 가마솥.

And the “useful idiots” (to use V.I. Lenin’s term) still don’t realize that dekulakization starts with unpopular groups and ends up with everyone shipped off to the camps as a kulak.

Every time.

“It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.”

— And more in Africa, Central/South America, and Asia, including the unpleasant people just to the north…

Wherever “socialist central planning” takes over, the same tale is told: farmers uprooted, shortages, famines, and deaths, lots of unpleasant deaths.

BTW, why are COVID-19 rates in India going down in spite of less-draconian face-diaper/lock-down rules?

May the ROK wake up before it’s too late.
