Democratic Party Claiming that the Trump Administration is Extorting South Korea

Here is where South Korea is going to fit in during the Presidential campaign:

Democratic Party has accused President Donald Trump of “extorting” South Korea by pressuring the Asian ally to pay more to keep American soldiers stationed on the Korean peninsula. The allegation was written in the Democratic Party’s election platform, and marks the opening salvo in the 2020 U.S. presidential race. South Korea now finds itself caught in the middle of the political slugfest.
Sam Len reports.

KBS World Radio

You can read more at the link, but notice that the Democratic response does not offer how much South Korea should be paying.

Time for us to leave. I see that Trump is significantly drawing down US forces in Germany. Good. In the same spirit, let South Korea defend itself. It should be paying 100% of the cost to do so, anyway. Besides, young South Koreans have forgotten history and have no appreciation for the US’s presence. So why stay? I don’t subscribe to the nonsense that the modern US is imperialistic, which means I don’t subscribe to the notion of a Pax Americana in East Asia. East Asians can figure things out for themselves without America as a “stabilizing” influence. (How much of a stabilizer have we been, anyway? North Korea has nukes, and we all let it happen!) If, after America leaves, South Korea remains meek and passive before North Korea, expect Japan to throw out its constitution and remilitarize. Expect China to respond to Japan by becoming more insecure and bellicose. Expect certain voices in South Korea to reject US policy and advocate for the manufacture of SK’s own nuclear arsenal to balance the power (SK should have nukes). Would nukes in Japan be far behind? I actually think this state of affairs would be a good thing. After all, a room full of people with sidearms is a room full of polite people.

Kevin, it’s difficult to argue with that.

But I will miss the kitschy shopping available outside the Osan AB (K55 again?) Main Gate…

Shouldn’t you guys be lobbying the US Democratic Party for this instead of just talking and talking, preaching and preaching to the already converted? It’s the US who has full control.

Why? Joe Biden doesn’t know where he is, much less Korea.

President Trump is a superb negotiator and has things well in hand with this situation. DemonRat opposition to his policies have fallen flat so there’s no issue there. Also, in a time when multi-trillion dollar relief packages are being approved, how can the DemonRats reasonably argue against SAVING the US government money? I am hoping that all of this controversy is taken care of by the elections. Although I do agree in principal with Kevin, if the US leaves the ROK now, it will not be along the lines of his scenario where everyone nukes up. It will be along the lines of China having free rein to harass all of its neighbors because none of them have the military might to counter the CCP threat. It will be very interesting to see how the next few months unfold.

South Korea has been leeching off us forever. They can afford to pay 5 billion. They’ve already given Fatty that much and more.

tagumcitytim, if you’re right then, the China that you and others here hate with your guts, will have even more global power and influence while the American power and influences decrease globally. The US, with no friends in Europe and Asia, can go it alone. The Chinese Yuan may become the new global reserve currency replacing the debt ridden over valued US dollar. Not that I care that much if that happens, but you people may actually have to pay back all your national debt.

Korean Man shows us once again that English is not his first language. So, I’ll spell it out in terms even he can understand. If the US pulls all of its troops out of East Asia, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia will have a new problem…CHINA! If the plandemic was not enough to show you that the CCP does not have to even employ their military might to cripple countries, then you need to wake up and smell what you’re shoveling. The Wuhan Virus was a biological weapon intentionally released upon the world with the primary purpose of destroying the US economy.

The Chinese Yuan will never be anything more than the third world currency that it started out as and continues to be today. That’s why the CCP artificially inflates the value by controlling the monetary supply whenever it suits their needs. The world needs to stop all this globalization crap and look at the PRC for what it is, the Soviet Union 2.0 (and we all know how that turned out). The CCP wants to spread socialism and Marxism around the world. That is why there is so much unrest in the US today. The whole BLM and Antifa movements are nothing more than fronts for Marxist revolution.

I’ll end with a question that has been asked several times by people with more political savvy than I have, “What specifically has BLM done for the black community in the US since it’s formation over 7 years ago?” Have they sponsored any scholarships for black students who want to get a better education and make a better life for themselves? Have they gone into impoverished black inner city neighborhoods and helped reclaim the dilapidated buildings? Have they helped even one black family struggling to make ends meet? The answer to all of these questions is NO.

However, they have bought themselves multiple 100k-plus luxury buses for them to use to go from city to city. They have paid thousands of people money to show up at their rallies and perform as they ordered. They have destroyed the lives of some black business owners, burning and looting their businesses. So, if you want to keep wearing masks everywhere you go and kowtow to every edict that comes from a government source (local, state, or national), then vote for Joe Biden because after his dementia-rattled carcass is pushed aside, there’s a whole bunch of fresh socialist faces to follow. Good luck with that Korean Man.

“The world needs to stop all this globalization crap and look at the PRC for what it is, the Soviet Union 2.0”

– says the American shouting in the neighborhood but all your neighbors think your’re just one angry crazy man. Nobody’s going to listen to you after you bashed your neighbors. Why should anyone listen to your rantings? I mean look at the Philippines. They basically accept China as the new leader in the South China Sea region. US navy now has no business being there anymore when all the countries in the region are accepting China’s territorial claims. But you are asking the world to unite against China, but at the same time, the US is telling the world to F*ck off because it’s America First. The US is now a rogue nation, nobody’s going to listen to you. Why should they?

Once again Korean Man is preaching from inside his liberal bubble. Time to pop your bubble. In recent months, because of the plandemic (yes, even Duterte realizes the Chinese released this on the world as biological warfare), the Philippines has been warming back up to its long-time on-again-off-again ally, the USA. The Philippine Congress suspended the cancellation of the Visiting Forces agreement and now American ships are making regular extended port calls again at Subic Bay.

As for my Filipino neighbors, I’ve spoken to many of them who believe that China will not stop at taking over the South China Sea but will eventually come for the Philippines. They also want a stronger partnership with the US. The CCP has had bad blood for the Philippines ever since they lost their case in the International Law of the Sea Court in 2012 over their expansion and claims in the SCS.

Like the US, the only Filipinos who side with China are the rich bastards making millions off of corrupt dealings for cheap Chinese products. In the USA right now, you might as well count the DemonRat party as a political wing of the CCP and many of the major corporations (including social media giants like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) are all connected to the CCP. I have advocated for the US to work out a trade with the CCP where we take all of the patriots from Hong Kong and in exchange we’ll give them the liberal lunatics and DemonRats who want to live in a socialist paradise.
