President Moon Orders Cabinet to Find Creative Economic Solutions After Coronavirus Outbreak

Anyone surprised that the Moon administration is blaming the poor Korean economy on the coronavirus? They are basically arguing that the Korean economy was on the verge of turning around until the coronavirus hit:

President Moon Jae-in ordered his cabinet on Tuesday to mobilize all available “special” means to handle the “emergency economic situations” attributable to the continued spread of the new coronavirus.

“Emergency situations require an emergency prescription. The current situation is much more serious than [we] thought,” Moon said during his opening remarks during a weekly cabinet meeting at the Blue House. “It is the time when special measures are absolutely necessary to use every possible means that the government can mobilize.”

Moon’s call reflects his resolve to minimize the epidemic’s impact on the Korean economy, which the government said was on the cusp of revival starting in the last quarter of 2019.

“This is not enough,” he added. “In order to respond to the emergency economic situations, I want you to exert policy-related imagination that goes beyond expectations with no restrictions.”

He cited the expansion of tax incentives and regulatory reform to promote corporate investment, special financial support for small- and medium-sized firms and measures to relieve tiny shop owners of rent burdens.

That’s easy!

Cut all the little bullshít regulation on business that have wormed their way in since KDJ cut them out to jumpstart the economy after IMF.

Stop trying to jail heads of companies that have innovative new services to protect outdated inefficient business models. ENCOURAGE competition.

Pump money and start social engineering campaigns to make machine learning (and robotics) Korea’s primary focus for future success… as it mostly requires the only resource Korea has in overabundance… which is brainpower. Get the public behind this so it’s all they talk about and every kid wants to be an AI god(ess).

Do the same thing with alternative energy. Korea needs lots of energy… and every won that is not buying foreign oil is making Korea stronger. The west sea has massive tidal power. It might be ugly but hydroelectric generators will pay for themselves until the next technology comes along.

Build an industry of indoor vertical aeroponic farming. Keeping Korea food self-sufficient pays for itself on several levels from economic to strategic. Young Koreans don’t want to farm in the wild but they might like sitting in a control room playing phone games and monitoring robotic farming (see: machine learning and robotics)

Make a car that competes globally with Tesla… but a more simple and affordable device. Make it sleek and fun and futuristic instead of like the last decade (or so) of Korean (and global) cars that look like they were vomited up by a committee of old drunkards and opiate junkies. Korea has everything to do this well.

I have a bigger list and more details… but that is where my consulting fee comes in.

CH, that’s all crazy talk because money, power, prestige, and success might come to non-Minjoo personnel…
