South Korean Group Protests the #metoo Movement as Gender Discrimination

Here is the latest on the gender wars in South Korea:

On the same street corner in Seoul where 10,000 South Korean women rallied last October to demand an end to spy cameras and sexual violence, the leader of a new activist group addressed a small group of angry young men.

“We are a group for legal justice, anti-hate, and true gender equality,” Moon Sung-ho boomed into a microphone to a crowd of a few dozen men waving placards.

As feminist issues come to the fore in deeply patriarchal South Korea, there’s a growing discontent among young men that they’re being left behind. Moon, who leads Dang Dang We, a group “fighting for justice for men,” is one of them.

He started his group last year after a 39-year-old business owner was sentenced to six months in prison for grabbing a woman’s buttocks in a Korean soup restaurant. The case provoked outrage that a man could be convicted on no evidence beyond the victim’s claims.

“The case provoked outrage that a man could be convicted on no evidence beyond the victim’s claims.”

I got taken to the police station and charged over the “claims” of a guy who said I assaulted him. The police stopped sleeping in their car for once and never worked so hard in their careers to chase the golden ideal of true justice.

So we went through a lot of shit. I denied it (because it didn’t happen) and the police response was… “but he said you did.”

But you need proof! There is almost 100% video coverage so you must show me assaulting him.

There is no video but he said so, so that is proof.

Really?

So we went in and out for a long time over that.

Nothing I could say or do could convince them that whitey was telling the truth and the gook was lying.

So… after everything was set in stone and the report was generated to send to the prosecutor, I showed them the video I had the whole time that clearly showed the gook lied and I was fully innocent.

Well. That was a conundrum for everyone involved. Stupid fucking slant eyed looks all around… and the anger was against ME for not showing the video to begin with. They contemplated how to use that against me rather than focusing on the guy that clowned them with lies.

So… I wanted charges pressed against him for a false police report and I wanted the same penalty for him that I would have gotten if his lies had been taken seriously.

Suddenly the police were not interested in justice. They had every excuse why this was not a big deal and should be forgotten.

Korea has lost me this year.

I have been here for 25 years with no problem… but I have been attacked 4 times this year… twice I did nothing in response and had video to prove I did nothing. Once the other guy showed a 1.5cm bloodless scratch on the back of his hand that happened when he grabbed my phone and I twisted it out of his grasp… and the police said we could both walk away or both get charged with assault… letting him completely off the hook for a random assault on whitey. And once, I had to pay off the 4 big guys who assaulted me because I defended myself (and won in a spectacular way… hospital stays for all 4… for real, not fake) … and then I directly bribed the police to let it go instead of making it a criminal case.

I have been the biggest Koreaboo for 25 years… supporting it against all sorts of whiny criticism. But Korea is changing… in a bad way… and I am losing my love for it.

The shitbags and worthless are being given the love while the hard working are getting more rules and regulations and bad attention.

…and lots more rules and regulations against (small) business owners are coming.

May be time to move on.

President Moon, as part of his never ending efforts to solidify his female support base, changed the sexual harassment laws to the point that alleged harassers can be prosecuted based on the testimony of the supposed victim regardless of whether evidence and witnesses exists or not.

Put it simply, if a girl doesn’t like a guy then all she has to do is to go to the authorities and claim she’s been harassed(even if there was no harassment) and the guy can look forward to being questioned by police, dragged into court, zero job opportunities, etc.

As with is his anti-Japanese policies, the current president seems to be more content with pleasing his support base than the overall good of the nation.

What it boils down to is Kim Fatty’s minions are destroying South Korea and the South Korean public, to a large degree, are eating it up. Buncha whiney misogynists more likely to adopt communism or sharia than actually defend traditional Korean culture. And the sad changeover from Korean girls to Russian girls to Filapinas to Harisu-wannabees in Itaewon is really indicative of the culture shift.

I don’t think I’ll ever be back, because my wife might end up with serious lymphedema from a 10+ hour flight even with the “prescription sleeve” (they take out lymph glands during cancer surgery); but I’ll miss seeing the family, the off-base touristy bits in Songtan (especially Mike’s Arcade and Mike’s All-Season), and the cherry blossums. Plus, I can get great Korean food in the Dallas area.
