Happy Anniversary to the Hump where I spent two tours being a bright patch of blue in a sea of green (I was part of a small detachment of Navy stationed on Zoekler Station). 😎

Looking at pictures of the place today, I would be lost in the expanse.

One of the reasons you would be “lost in the expanse” is the incredible lack of signage on the base. If you’re new or simply visiting, you’re on your own to find out where things are located and how to get there.

From what I have seen in pictures of the Hump, the number of buildings and the filling up of the land is phenomenal. Seems like they’ve crammed a lot of stuff into the small area I used to run around on.

Do they still serve a hamburger in the enlisted club affectionately known as “The Hump-burger” or its counterpart with cheese known as “The Chump-burger?” I hope that tradition has not been lost to the expansion.

The Hump was founded in 1944? That makes it Camp Tojo or something, right?

According to Wikipedia, “The history of Camp Humphreys dates back to 1919, when the Japanese military built the Pyeongtaek Airfield. During the Korean War, Pyeongtaek Airfield was named K-6 after being repaired and enhanced by the U.S. Air Force to accommodate a U.S. Marine Air Group and the 614th Tactical Control Group.”

That makes it a 100 years old airbase: https://ww2db.com/facility/Pyeongtaek_Airfield

I’m not a math major, but I just returned home from the 75th anniversary of D-Day in France, that was 1944, and took a few more months after Germany surrendered to convince Japan to do the same thing,so as others have said Hump ain’t been Hump for 75 years. Perhaps it’s LTG Bills 75th birthday? He looks about that old…

They can’t fool me.

The Umbrella Corporation logo is clearly visible.

This is a still from an upcoming Resident Evil sequal…

…possibly involving a zombie general.

CH, you know that Raccoon City in Korean is 너구리, not 평택… And anyway, the General stated quite clearly that “the infection was completely contained and there was no need to worry.” Right before he and his staff got in their helicopters.

At K6 from 69-71. Left and next saw it in 95. Not much different. Visited 2016, what a difference. Are the shoddy/corrupt construction failures fixed?
Since the problems 2 weeks ago and no 10 year old to help, with my pea brained issues, I don’t know how to initiate a comment.
