Memorial tents for Sewol victims removedTents set up in downtown Seoul by families of the victims of the Sewol ferry sinking are dismantled on March 18, 2019, as their removal begins. The tents were set up as a memorial for the victims and to demand a full investigation into the Sewol disaster, which killed 304 people on April 16, 2014. Most of the victims were high school students on an excursion. The families agreed to withdraw the tents they installed in July in the year of the tragedy. (Yonhap)
Every time I passed their exhibit in Gwanghwamun Plaza I wondered how much longer they’d stay. Answers that.
As a lasting memorial they could build a statue near the Admiral Yi / turtle ship statue in sort of a yin yang configuration: one sailed, one sunk; victory and defeat.
