Picture of the Day: Subcontractors Protest Working Conditions in South Korea

Subcontract workers' rally
Subcontract workers’ rallyA group of subcontract workers march during a rally in Seoul on Jan. 18, 2019, to call for the change of their status to regular workers. The rally came on the heels of the death last month of a subcontract worker at a power station. Kim Yong-gyun was killed in a conveyor belt accident earlier in the month while working under unprotected and underpaid conditions, touching off public demand for better treatment for workers like him. They want their mommy to hold their hands, blow their noses, and wipe their bums, too.

Yeah. I get it. I want $30,000/month to sit on a boat and have my wife put suntan lotion on my arms. We all want something more.

But no kne forced them to be a subcontractor. They signed a contract. Now they want to break thwir contract and make the emloyer go out of business.

They’re gonna love worm in their guts when Kim Fatty III takes over

J6, while Hitler and Stalin had their non-aggression pact in place (1939-1941), the unions had strikes, work slowdowns, sabotage, and so on in factories producing war materiel headed to countries fighting Germany. As soon as Germany attacked the Soviets, the unions were suddenly on board. The Pearl Harbor attack meant nothing to them, as it was six months later…

At Tienanmen Square in 1989, the students had a peaceful protest. Unions joined, fire-bombed some unarmed police, and then faded into the woodwork. The violent government reaction was against students only.

Unions are a very effective too for communists.
