Gordon Chang Recommends that President Trump Revert to Maximum Pressure Campaign

Gordon Chang is not a fan of the announced Kim-Trump 2 Summit:

On January 18, President Donald Trump met for about ninety minutes with Kim Jong-un’s emissary, Kim Yong-chol, in Washington, D.C. At the conclusion of the session, the White House tweeted that a second summit between Trump and the North Korean leader “will take place near the end of February.”
Let’s hope the February meeting does not occur. Trump had been successful through the middle of May of last year when he was pressuring—but not talking to—the North Koreans. Kim was, uncharacteristically, making all the concessions and Trump was making none. (………..)

And there was one more reason for Trump’s success: his so-called “maximum pressure” campaign of interdicting Kim’s revenue. “According to one U.S. government estimate,” the Wall Street Journal stated at the end of last May, “the sanctions regime has cut off half the country’s international revenue.”
Trump, who had the North Koreans where he wanted them, then suddenly changed course. As the Wall Street Journal reported, the administration decided to not sanction almost three dozen parties—some of them Russian and Chinese.
North Korea changes front companies all the time, meaning that not sanctioning new ones hollowed out the pressure campaign quickly. In short, Trump gave Kim de facto relief from the measures. Although there have been scattered designations of entities since then, they have been few in number and mostly inconsequential.

Everyone wants to tell the billionaire how to conduct negotiations…
Everyone thinks they’re smarter than Trump…
Everyone has been wrong about Trump too many times to count…

Koreans N or S negotiate only one way. Win – Lose, as in they win; we lose. Trump is one of a few or maybe the only to make it hard on nK. He needs to increase the pressure.

Maximum pressure? Sadly, Trump is a wuss who will not order a pre-emptive strike on the DPRK. Even Nancy Pelosi knows Trump is a wuss.

Trump is a seasoned businessman and is well-versed in negotiations. He knows when to use the stick and when to offer the carrot. Everyone has been underestimating the man since he announced he was running for President. At every turn, Trump has outmaneuvered those who thought they knew what he was going to do next. Nancy Pelosi is a bitter old hag who has gotten bested by Trump at least twice in the last two weeks. Personally, I loved Trump’s move to cancel her unnecessary junket to keep her in Washington where she belongs with the government shutdown. She’s the Speaker of the House, the third in succession to the President, her job is to work with her colleagues and President Trump to end the shutdown, not take a week off to add to the deficit by flying for free on government aircraft.

“I loved Trump’s move to cancel her unnecessary junket to keep her in Washington where she belongs with the government shutdown.”

I think that was a mistake.

He should have been the better man and let her go on the trip.

Then cancelled the return flight and let the hag fly commercial.

“multiple bankruptcies, not a billionare.”

A Listener, although rather negative, you seem very informed about Trump.

I read: “The Trump Organization is the collective name for a group of approximately 500 business entities of which Donald Trump, the current U.S. President, is the sole or principal owner.”

Could you kindly tell us how many bankruptcies you mean by the word “multiple”, compare that number to 500, and then tell us some of the things you have accomplished which fall within that success or failure rate?

Chickenhead, he is a multi millionaire yes. You can look up the multiple bankruptcies they are public record. Being a multi millionaire doesn’t diminish that yes he is very rich and good at staying rich.

A Listener,

“he is a multi millionaire yes. You can look up the multiple bankruptcies they are public record”

So… 6 lifetime corporate bankruptcies compared to 500 currently operating business and an unknown number of businesses sold or closed without bankruptcy.

And you think “multiple bankruptcies” is an insult? Do you even have that success rate hitting the bowl with your morning pee?

You claim trump is not a billionaire but just a multi-millionaire. I haven’t spoken to his accountant and don’t know his actual wealth… so I have to rely on the same fake news sources you do when you make such a claim.

Forbes, Trump’s long-time frenemy who he has continuously accused of under-reporting his wealth, says…3.1 bullion.

So, yes, 3,100 million IS a “multi-millionaire”… but you are seemingly wrong when you say he is not a billionaire. That’s 50%… which is an F.

You do, however, get an A+ for Propaganda-induced Trump Derangement Syndrome… primarily due to your thought Trump’s worth, or a success rate far larger than failure in difficult and risky business endeavors, is somehow a topic worthy of ridicule.

NeverTrumpers are an odd lot. To bad they can vote.

Again Chickenhead, Donald Trump was my favorite Reality American TV star before he became Chief of Staff. I still Love him as an Entertainer. Yet He is NOT an Entrepreneur. Je inherited wealth, not mine it. If you can remember the 1980s as I can, Donald always married Soviet Women, never American, until Marla Maples.
