Seoul Holds Its First Ever Drag Queen Parade

Just another example of something I can point to the next time someone tries to tell me that South Korea is a conservative Confucian country:

South Korea held its first ever drag parade this weekend, a small but significant step for rights activists in a country that remains deeply conservative when it comes to gender and sexuality.

Dozens of drag queens and kings marched through Itaewon on Saturday, a suburb of Seoul best known for its nightlife and a nascent but vibrant gay scene.

Carrying rainbow flags, they cheered and strutted their best outfits, receiving shouts of support and the odd baffled look from those they passed.

While homosexuality is not illegal in South Korea, same-sex marriage is not recognised and people cannot legally change their birth gender.

The country is home to a large evangelical Christian community and LGBT people feel pervasive pressure to stay closeted.

“When it comes to South Korea, human rights guarantees for sexual minorities are insufficient,” Yang Heezy, a drag queen and the organiser of Seoul Drag Parade, said.

“Today’s drag parade and more queer culture festivals should take place to bring attention to sexual minorities and help those who are not from those minorities learn more,” he added, sporting a flame red wig and floral dress.  [South China Morning Post]

In my humble conservative opinion it’s a very serious mental illness which all those drag queens should seek immediate help for.

How come they’re all foreigners?

Because expats in Korea come in roughly four flavors: GIs subject to the UCMJ and SOFA, People on Work Visas who have a behavior standard to maintain, Tourists there to visit family, and Confused Pervs who thought they were going to Thailand because of what they heard on NPR or some other source of misinformation.

If you really want to see male nationals dressed as women as opposed to waegooks then take your ass on up the hill and hit any of the clubs up at the top on the right. Chickenhead can vouch for a few of the places, if you tell them “CH sent me” you’ll get a discount. 😎

The tall blondie is Charlotte Goodenough…

…possibly the most famous drag queen in Korea… and well worth watching in a show.

…sigh…

…and there goes any chance of denying anything Smokes has ever suggested about my tranny-loving lifestyle.

I have no probs with em; no threat to me. While I’ve never actually seen the inside of one of those joints I mentioned up the hill I did pass by em enough to know there are K-Queens there too.

My question is though, whenever they have parades like this are they obligated to have a beef guy in a mesh shirt? Always one of em… 😮

While the rest of you argue over which one is the most LGBTQWERTYIOP-friendly you are, I long for the day when “adult entertainment” looks less like “Killer Klowns From Outer Space”. YMMV.

It makes me think the several hundred years of Korean governments that killed waygooks for fear they would destroy Korean Culture were on to something…

Whoops… you dropped your tiki torch…

I’m human-friendly, only the young and old can afford to be anti-whatever, I have bills to pay and a family to care for. Besides you have the internet, you can easily find whatever flavor of entertainment you wish pretty fast.

Growing up in California, and actually reading books about Nazis taught me things you seem to have missed.

Hitler went to a lot of “camps” where very smartly dressed men in leather, well, you either get my drift or not. Read about the SA leadership: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiOl_WZjbHbAhVQG6wKHT7xBawQFggpMAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FErnst_R%25C3%25B6hm&usg=AOvVaw1bliSHkG6aQeDD-ZmABZa3

It’s not the people who tolerate but refuse to celebrate pervs wearing the swastikas, old bean…

If some dude who wishes he was a girl… or, in this case, some dude who gets more attention dressed as a girl, lives rent free in anyone’s head… well…

I learned long ago… well… I don’t care what anyone does… dress as a woman… or shoot their black rifle into the mountain…

…if it does not affect me… well… it is not my concern.

STFU and worry about those causing you real trouble.

I am about as conservative right wing as
they get… but I truly do not care what you think about your wiener as long as you dont want some fuck trying to use global warming alarmism as an excuse to take my hard earned money.

Golly. Looks like there are some sensitive folks here.

I too don’t care what particular voluntary body functions anyone prefers in the privacy of their own home or rented room.. I just wish the waygooks in Korea would stop pressing for Koreans to change their culture to match the morals of the Fulton Street Parade. If that’s offensive to you, then so be it. Some things don’t need to be waved around in front of kids.

I don’t join protest marches, write letters to congress critters, or do youtube videos. And, while the only leather I wear is an A2 flight jacket I bought at Mike’s Arcade, I don’t tell anyone else what clothes to buy or wear…

I guess the way I think, not the way I act, and not the abuse those pervs received as children, is really the crime here?

Heh!

Sorry, Setnaffa, upon rereading, that really sounded sensitive and bitchy toward you… which was not my intention.

Your opinion is always good.

Maybe my inner woman wrote it?

Anyhoo… I was thinking of all the effort both Republicans and Democrats have been putting into fretting over which bathroom .0001% of the population might use…

…and it takes all the attention of the media and population…

…while illegals flood the border, Muslims plot a parallel society, globalists find new ways to erode the middle class, the 3 letter agencies trample the constitution, and alien hybrids fill the basement of the Denver airport.

…or something like that.

Men in dresses should be about zero concern to the population… as the chance to encounter one is probably about the same as being a terrorist victim… and much lower than being a victim of crime… and much much lower than being a victim of government.

No matter what our differences we all saw CH refer to his “inner woman” and I think that’s a win all around. 😎

I think we should all hold a victory luncheon on June 8, the 1 year anniversary of me being cancer-free (thank you God!)…

Inner children of all genders free to participate at their own locations…

Keep an eye on yourself. I’m at 10 years cancer free, and I live every day to the fullest.
