Trump Administration Says New York Times Article About USFK Troop Reductions is “Utter Nonsense”
Is this the latest example of “fake news” the US President often derides?:
President Donald Trump has requested options for reducing the number of US troops in South Korea, the New York Times reported late Thursday, citing several people briefed on the matter.
The President’s request of the Defense Department comes ahead of his highly anticipated sit-down with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, expected to take place along the demilitarized zone (DMZ) between the two Koreas.North and South Korea recently held their own historic summit, which included an agreement on holding talks over denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and bringing a formal conclusion to the Korean War.If the peace talks continue among countries, it could decrease the need for a US presence in the region, officials told the newspaper.National security adviser John Bolton on Friday disputed the Times’ report, calling it “utter nonsense.”
“The President has not asked the Pentagon to provide options for reducing American forces stationed in South Korea,” Bolton said in a statement. The Department of Defense also denied the report in a statement. [CNN]
You can read more at the link, but another possibility is that this is a trial balloon being pushed out by the Trump administration to gauge the South Korean reaction in regards to the ongoing USFK cost sharing negotiations.

CNN and the New York Times often report things that never happened. 🙄
Everybody likes to leak shit about Trump.
So Trump leaks made up shit about himself… at both ends of the ridiculous scale.
…and the media eats it all up… and looks stupid.
Dummies.
Trump mastered this game long ago.
Sadly, however, there is a bit of backfire…
…as a lot of people are so stupid and underinformed that they actually miss the part about it being obvious nonsense… and actually take the craziness as truth.
It must be hell to go through life dumb and angry.
To bad, I say reduce the US military presence in Korea, especially the Army. For the Army personnel here it is a huge waste of time. No clear mission, no place to train, many opportunities to screw up. Also, South Korea needs to step up, instead of reducing their mandatory military service to 18 months, like commie moon wants, they need to increase it and shoulder the responsibility (and cost) of defending their own country. Hell, 18 months is shorter than a command sponsored tour for US military, I find it insulting that a US military member can be ordered to defend Korea longer than a Korean citizen.
@Flyingsword
The ROK army just needs to learn to throw down their arms and goose step. 😆
