51st Mission Support Group Commander Relieved at Osan Airbase

I wonder what the backstory to this relief of command is?  It seems when colonels get relieved it is because of infidelity or getting arrested for something:

Col. Kerry Proulx, commander of Osan Air Base’s 51st Mission Support Group, has been relieved due to a loss of confidence in her ability to effectively lead, according to the Air Force.

The commander of a support unit at America’s largest air base in South Korea has been relieved of her duties, an Air Force statement said.

Col. Kerry Proulx, commander of the Osan-based 51st Mission Support Group, was relieved Friday due to a loss of confidence in her ability to effectively lead, the statement said.

“This was a tremendously difficult and unfortunate decision to make, but it’s the right direction for the 51st Fighter Wing,” Col. William Betts, the wing’s commander, said in the statement.

Officials wouldn’t give specifics as to why Betts lost confidence in Proulx, who had been overseeing 2,600 personnel in the support group’s five squadrons, including security forces since July 2016.  [Stars & Stripes]

Something about her screams affair.

Usually it’s deviating from the big three that get them into trouble:
1) Drive your own car.
2) Spend your own money
3) F*ck your own spouse
She’d been there since July of 2016 too, and it’s a two year gig so she’d be leaving in a couple months anyway. Ouch

Sometimes it can result from units under the commander failing a series of inspections.

Maybe she looked too much like Trump?

We might not be able to overthrow the President. But we can at least over throw a Group Commander! “Workers of the World Unite!”

Maybe she was a quota colonel…

…Obama era worries that women were underrepresented so we need to promote some fast.

Maybe not. She is white.

But she does look kinda dykey.

Two out of three might be enough on a slow day.

Anybody know the hierarchy of promotion priorities for underrepresented and disadvantaged peoples?

Chickenhead may be on to something there.

So after a brief search, most articles you find bemoan the lack of diversity at upper ranks of the military and generally read like research papers straight out of a Berkeley women or gender study 101 class. But you can find some that get to the truth and some, at the start of the push to be more diverse in the military put lives at risk, like this tale about naval aviation-http://www.adversity.net/military.htm and some opinion pieces written by brave individuals https://medium.com/@Doctrine_Man/diversity-at-what-cost-207a499a4978

I know the last (catastrophically bad) Secretary of the AF told leadership not to accept a package for a position unless at least one person was “diverse” (even if completely unqualified for the job).

As someone involved in the hiring process I’ve noticed over the last 3 – 5 an increase in WTF’s getting through to the latter phases. You generally always got a share of a-holes who just answer “among the best” for everything and just roll the dice on no one actually reading their experience in the early phases but there’s a definite uptick in resumes getting through that made it based solely on a couple fields in the admin section (you know the ones). Pisses me off because it wastes a lot of my time reading hundreds of applications that had no business being in front of my eyes.

For the record I’m no boy’s club fan either, I’m sick of all the dudes in the STEM field, it’s a GD sausage-fest. It’d be really nice to have more qualified women applying. Ain’t hiring them based solely on being women though. 😛

And lets nip this in the bud too, really isn’t much of an issue with racial diversity in STEM. The boo-hoo’ers try to make it seem that way by somehow lumping in all the Asian subsets in with whites. So what they’re really bitching about is they want more Blacks and Hispanics, not more diversity, more Blacks and more Hispanics. 🙄

People who look for a rainbow of suntans in an organization as a measure of success ought to be fired for incompetence or sabotage.

The modern “intersectional” prophets think MLKjr was a racist or an Uncle Tom. To the Devil with ’em.

There’s no room in most orgs for racist clowns or people unable to figure out which potty to use…

The only “Rainbow of Suntans” I like are bikini lines with sunburn added in. Can I rub you there? 😎

This seems to be veering off topic into everyone’s cultural complaints but O-6’s iin the Air Force are chosen by promotion boards of senior professional officers not by an HR department.

She looks like the Col that did my colonoscopy at 121 in 2008. Argued with the staff while I was on the table, and vague about the results. Clear as mud so to speak.

This was the former Secretary of the AF:

Just because someone passed a review board doesn’t mean they are competent. It just means they meet the quota du jour.

I am not saying I could do that job for even a week without being disciplined, just that officer promotions have a history of political entanglements. In all countries. Since there have been officers.

JOEC, those boards are given guidance and direction by their leadership, all these boards have hard numbers they must promote of various diversity backgrounds.

With her removal from command, they are quickly going to have to find a replacement to fill the quota for horse teeth.
