Tweet of the Day: ‘Feces Elementary School’ to Change Name

Just for a little context … the name of the school is Dae-byeon Elementary School (대변초등학교). Based on the Chinese characters in the school name: 大邊 – where 大(대) means big and 邊(변) means change, there’s nothing unusual about the name. However, Koreans don’t normally write things in Chinese anymore, and when written in Korean, 대변 is most commonly used to refer to feces. So quite naturally, any kid going to that school had to live with being teased about attending “Feces Elementary School.”

I wonder if the school colors are brown and yellow?

The school’s website doesn’t list school colors, but it does show that the mascot is a pine tree (소나무). And there’s a lot of blue and green at the site and in images related to the school.
