Considering that non-career diplomats (sometimes celebrities and wealthy supporters – case in point: current US Ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy) are named to be ambassadors, I think Bobby Valentine wouldn’t be a bad a choice. He coached professional baseball in Japan and he learned to speak Japanese at a surprisingly high level (I heard him interviewing Japanese players and coaches at the Little League World Series a few years ago).
As long as he can do the appropriate bow if or when one of our civilians or troops screws up over there the next time.
Pretty good choice to deal with issues involving bases.
Oh, so now you care about Ambassadors… #BenghaziLivesMatter
LOL wasn’t this the guy who reappeared incognito in the dugout after being thrown out by umps?
I guess he would be a good choice given his ties to Japanese baseball.
