2ID Asks Club Owners to Help them Identify Drunk Soldiers

SEOUL, South Korea — The 2nd Infantry Division is asking bar owners for help in reducing troop misbehavior after several incidents sparked negative publicity and calls from local officials for the U.S. military to rein in soldier conduct.

Maj. Gen. Thomas Vandal, 2ID commander, said Army officials met with about 20 owners of bars in the “Ville” outside Camps Casey and Hovey several weeks ago. Citing excessive alcohol usage as the main contributor to misconduct, the division wants bartenders to call military police when they believe a soldier’s drinking is getting out of hand.

“We asked them to help us with this campaign for responsible drinking that really gets at causing our soldiers to stop, pause and reflect before they have that extra drink, before we see it affects their judgment,” Vandal told Stars and Stripes. “They understand the intent. They were very positive, quite frankly,” he said, adding that soldiers getting in trouble is bad for a bar’s business and can lead to being put off-limits to troops. (Stars and Stripes)

By midnight on Friday or Saturday night in some of the clubs, 90% of all patrons are drunk, lol.

First the Brass vilifies them & now, they want the Bar owners to help them out? Military leadership 101…Not

Does that mean if a group of soldiers go down on a third ammo bowl they will be denied? And how is the bar owner supposed to know if they are 2ID soldiers?

Silly gooses. What this means is the bar owners went to the meeting, listened to what they thought to be silly nonsense, and humored the general by agreeing to whatever the hell it was he and his staff were spewing. It’s not like they have a choice. It’s also not like they are actually going to do this. At least it’s another harmless, toothless policy that cannot be enforced. Nothing has changed. Business as usual.

I love how Stripes can always find one person to quote who always supports whatever grand idea is on the agenda du jour.

If USFK came out with a policy of chopping everyones left little toe off, they would find some private to “quote” who thinks it’s the greatest idea ever, because he doesn’t need ALL them toes and he always stubs that one on the way to the head at night.

I’ll pay any Arab here who will go down there to the bars where the GI drunks are smoozing with the Filipina whores, and throw a bomb in there. That would be so funny.

“but does anyone think this will make a difference.”

No, because there are too many excessive alcoholic servicemembers who participate in misconduct and get out of hand.

We could take up a collection to pay an Arab to throw a bomb in a bar where Tom is grinding on the dance floor.

Just kidding.

I have nothing against gay bars.

Anyway… this policy is shockingly laughable… as in they must have known how ridiculous it was when they made it. They can’t ALL be that stupid in USFK “leadership”, right? Right?

Unfortunately, it WILL be enforced… but only upon a couple sad little Ma & Pa bars to show Something Is Being Done.

The “community leaders” who play golf with “leadership” will go unnoticed… and may well have been the inspiration for this scheme in hopes of reducing competition in alcohol sales as the juicy girl gravy train grinds to a halt.

I honestly hope USFK’s warfighting skills and decisions are better than their daily management skills and decisions… because if they aren’t, there is no chance of beating North Korea with the same decisive level of victory demonstrated against the primatives of Afghanistan.

This is ok though right ChickenHead? It is reasonable that military leaders want citizens (foreign ones at that) to act as unofficial agents of the Department of Future Crime and report people. After all it’s very unprofessional to been seen drinking right? The highest standards shall be upheld even if it means [in]directly threatening foreign business with killing off their business.

The girls working in the bars to “comfort” the soldiers are going to be making less money which means the bar owners will be making less money since drunk soldiers pay for sex much more easily than sober ones and who would be in the club anyway if they weren’t looking to get drunk & have sex? Or that’s the impression I get from what my husband’s told me he did when he was stationed there.

I was probably a little harsh, in hindsight.

We only took took 20 years and a couple trillions dollars to replace the Taliban with the Taliban.

Linda, don’t worry. Soldiers aren’t having sex with girls anymore. That’s all been shut down.

Obviously the tranny bars are still open and you can find a gay bar or two.

But prostitution is a thing of the past.
