LTG Honore is a John Wayne Dude

LTG Honore undoubtedly cussing someone out.

The mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin has some complimentary things to say about LTG Honore:

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin calls Lt. Gen. Russel Honore a “John Wayne dude” who can “get some stuff done.”

“He came off the doggone chopper, and he started cussing and people started moving,” Nagin said in an interview Thursday night with a local radio station.

Mayor Nagin is not kidding about the cussing. LTG Honore the former 2ID commander was well known here in Korea for his cussing and tirades. He can cuss and swear with the best of them. I got plenty of good LTG Honore stories from his time in Korea.

However, for a situation that is begging for someone to be in charge since no one within the city, state, or national governments are showing any leadership in organizing a disaster relief plan; LTG Honore is the right man for this job. When he was here in Korea there was never any doubt who was in charge. His cussing and tantrums do not endear him to many people, but he does get results and right now immediate results in evacuating and aiding people is what is needed most.

Check out the CNN interview with LTG Honore that is on the sidebar of this link. LTG Honore is from Louisiana and the media is already picking up on his long time Army nickname of the Ragin Cajun. The media has also picked up on the fact that his daughter actually lives in New Orleans but he has not found her yet. The media seems to really like LTG Honore because he fits the persona of the cigar chomping bigger than life general. Plus he has a personal connection to this tragedy that makes for great TV.

However, what is most imporatant so far, is that this bigger than life general seems to be making things happen now.

GI,

I know you prefer to keep your head in the sand … but, the US Army cannot afford to keep its eyes closed to the subversion of the “warrior ethos” within the US Army.

The real-world enemies of America are ruthless, resource-ful, and dedicated … and they are inserting feminized sleeper agents into the USFK leadership.

Proof? Lt. Gen Charles Campbell 8th Army Commnander weeps before the world on the Sixty Minutes TV program when asked about his feelings over South Korean anti-Americanism: inspiring North and South Korean males to mock him routinely — thus, by implication USFK and its soldiers: this mockery is becoming a routine male-bonding ritual for South Koreans … who self-imagine their racial tribe being more gifted in testosterone than the American metro-sexual army of USFK.

Lt. Gen Campbell’s trickle-down influence on the USFK, is not only emboldening our enemies, it is causing our own ordinary GI’s to become proud of their inner woman … thus, even your blogging friend “Lost Gonad” proudly writes on his blog how he is NOT AFRAID TO CRY at sad movies — done abusively before his secretly disgusted daughter who craves a secure male protector for a father.

Well guess what! America craves secure male soldiers and leadership who will fulfill their function as protectors of our proud nation.

This comment and article below might give you an indication of why your USFK generals are breaking-down crying and exhibiting a weak-kneed hesitancy in relations with South Korea.

(In my opinion, if you ignore these insights … you become a colluder in the feminization of the US military: Read below.)

AMERICA’S FUTURE HEROES

[Perhaps there’s some Divine Justice in all of this. While in a narrow “the way things should be” kind of mindset, it’s a tragedy that these idiotic women have made such inroads into the American military, perhaps the more sobbing we have the less innocent civilians will be dying at the hands of the American War Machine. Either way, it’s a catastrophe. – Ed]

Fellow American,
Dr. Nancy Sherman, the first occupant of the Distinguished Chair of Ethics at the U.S. Naval Academy, was instrumental in designing the new ‘ethics’ curriculum there. In fact, that program has more of Ms. Sherman in it than it has ADM James Stockdale, the heroic Vietnam War POW who the Academy touts as not only approving of, but designing the curriculum.

What has Ms. Sherman wrought at the Academy? Here are a few hints. An editorial in The Washington Times (‘The Crying of the admirals,’ 11/03/95) tells us:

“The U.S. Naval Academy has added female ‘role models’ to the faculty. In August 1994, the Academy placed a new emphasis on conflict resolution and consciousness-raising. As ‘Lean On Me’ started playing, Master Chief Liz Johns gave the plebes her final orders: stand in a circle, sway to the music, sing along, and hug. From the circle came the sharp sniffle of sobs. The future admirals of America were crying.”

A related piece of information regarding the ‘feminization’ of the Navy’s core combat leadership is found in the Navy Inspector General’s “Report of Investigation into the Integration of Women into Carrier Air Wing Eleven,”dated 10 February 1997.

This investigation resulted from the actions taken by the Air Wing in the aftermath of the realization that LT Carey Dunai Lohrenz (one of the first two female fighter pilots to fly the F-14 ‘Tomcat’) exhibited flying qualities that were not only dangerous to herself, but to her crew, and the ship, the USS Abraham Lincoln. She was disqualified from flying aboard ship.

LT Lohrenz would not take the professional criticism of her landing techinique during debriefs. She would argue with the Landing SignalOfficers (LSOs), often employing the aid of her RIO (backseater) in challenging the them, e.g. “I didn’t see that, did you?”

Here is a telling quote from that report (pp.198). “Occasionally, during a tough debrief, a woman [pilot in the Air Wing] would start CRYING. The LSOs were used to seeing men curse, throw objects, and kick things when they performed poorly. But they didn’t know [redacted] with CRYING. They didn’t know how to interpret CRYING, or whether they could continue the debrief.”

Where does this stuff come from? What mentality brings this new ‘warrior ethos’ into the U.S. Navy — at the heart of its education and training of our nation’s naval core combat leadership?

The answer comes from Ms. Nancy Sherman and her radical feminist allies on the civilian staff of the new ‘ethics’ program at the Academy. How do we know this? Simple. Just take a look at what Ms. Sherman has implemented at the U.S. Naval Academy. Please ‘double click’ on the blue line below and you will see what she preached while at the Academy — and what her cohorts and replacement continue to preach there.

http://www.newtotalitarians.com/NancyShermanDilemma.html

then you will understand what all of this CRYING is about — at our nation’s premiere military academy and on our powerful aircraft carriers.

Read it and weep! Better yet — read it and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

Best Regards,

Obviously this patriarchal cave-man slipped through the cracks of the military Equal Opportunity system: they need to "re-educate" him through the anger-management and sensitivity training programs Lt. Gen Charles Campbell and Gen LaPorte received.

This guy suspiciously appears to be able to "feel the pain" and yet, chuck it aside like a man — and directly get the job done.

He is frightenly too masculine for my comfort.

In my feminist opinion, the empathy-to-tears method of USFK leadership is what a broken world needs for emotional healing… and the well-fare management of Koreans.

GI, I know you agree… good boy.

Honore has been a controversial officer for a long time, and his time in Korea was no different. He did nothing to endear himelf to the Uijongbu and Dongducheon populace, and initially reacted pretty indifferently when the school girls were run down in 2002. That whole incident put a bad light on his command, and he unceremoniously left Korea shortly thereafter to head up an invisible job in Homeland Defense until he resurfaced at 1st Army.

You are right about General Honore not reacting properly after the 2002 accident. General Honore used a lot of negative leadership styles discussed above to get results. His negativism carried over to Korea as well because he did little to engage the local population and at times I felt he was negative towards Koreans in general.

The current CG, General Higgins is much more engaged with the community and I feel he actually generally likes it here in Korea. This positive attitude and engagement with the community I think was something that helped 2ID handle the fatal June accident in Dongducheon much better than what happened in 2002. Being the 2ID commander is a lot more than tactics and leadership. It is also a whole lot of PR work. More so than any other division command in the Army.

I agree with your analyis of General Honore. I have some good General Honore stories myself. I didn't care for the guy much either but I think he is the right guy to send to New Orleans because he will get immediate results because he will push everyone involved to their limits plus he has a good feel for the people there since Louisiana is his home state.

I would be interested in knowing more about General Honore. Is he the same that is mentioned in this posting? http://www.kimsoft.com/2002/teen3.htm

The posting I'm linking you to seems a tad propagandistic (heh), but just interested in knowing more about this person. Anyone who has any more details – please post!

I checked out the link you provided and its from Kimsoft which means propaganda. The Korean flag he keeps saying was flown incorrectly I cannot conclusively see that is incorrect because it may be twisted on the guide on pole because of the wind. Like the posting mentions there are dozens or ROK dignitaries and generals at these things and no one said anything. That leads me to believe the flag was flown correctly.

General Honore is a very hands on guy. He likes to rile things up and get in people's faces and scream and yell until he gets his point across. I got chewed out by him for no reason and could hardly understand a thing he was saying because of his cajun drawl when he yells. He also can curse up a storm like you would not believe. His style of leadership is effective in accomplishing results but he does not develop leaders well and is not generally liked by subordinates. However, he does get results and that is why he is a three star general today.

He did not handle the aftermath of the accident here in Korea in 2002 very well. From what I saw General Honore did not like Korea much and this may have carried over towards his actions after the accident. He is generally disliked by Koreans as well.
