Dinosaur Puppet Reenlistment Leads to Demotion and Forced Retirement of US Air Force Colonel

I bet they all thought this was a great idea at the time:

A Tennessee Air National Guard colonel has been demoted and forced to retire for leading a re-enlistment ceremony during which a senior noncommissioned officer recited her oath using a dinosaur hand puppet.

Maj. Gen. Terry Haston, the Tennessee Air Guard’s adjutant general, announced the demotion on Facebook Wednesday in the wake of an online firestorm sparked by a video of the ceremony.

Haston said the NCO — who took the oath Friday while the head of a Tyrannosaurus rex on her right hand mouthed her words — has been removed from her full-time position with the Tennessee Joint Public Affairs Office and that other administrative actions were being taken.  [Stars & Stripes]

You can read more at the link, but this was some pretty harsh punishment for the Colonel involved in this to be demoted and forced to retire.

The person reciting the oath is a public affairs officer. She probably convinced the Colonel this would be a great PR opportunity.
This is why no leader should ever listen to PA. They still think putting all your crap up on social media is a great idea.

Glad they got the book thrown at them. I don’t care if you’re making this video for your kid to see later.

Q: How is a dinosaur puppet like your Filipina juicy?

A: If you make promises with your fist in them, you will be sorry.

“The NCO … has been removed from her full-time position with the Tennessee Joint Public Affairs Office and that other administrative actions were being taken.”

Those full-time Air National Guard jobs are pretty sweet … you basically get the same benefits of being on active duty, but you get to do your entire career in one spot without ever having to PCS.

I kind of doubt this is going to happen, but if this woman gets booted from that job for this – that’s going to really hurt unless she’s over 20 years and they let her retire.

A big reason why the Guard and Reserve are dysfunctional.
Once they’re there, they’re there foreva…which could either be good or very very bad.

I just found out the “real story” (as told by the commander of the National Guard…so grain of salt it might just be a CYA story)
I guess the person had already done her official reenlistment oath and has a special needs daughter. She thought it would be fun to video tape it for her daughter. Then she put it on facebook. At any rate, only a shit for brains would allow this, let alone agree to have it video taped. So it’s probably best they’re headed out.

“The optics just looked very bad.”
Yeah, the guy (not the colonel here but the big boss) said it took place on Friday and when he got to work Monday there were 280 e mails in his in box demanding his resignation.

Big boss would sacrifice the right pawns to keep his hefty pension and cush job.

I would hope the folks at NORAD aren’t this stupid.

LIMERICK

Things are not as they seemed.
No one cares that the oath was demeaned.
Careers just got whacked
for the sex act
of fisting Barney while they live streamed.
