North Korea Unhappy About Start of CCPT Exercise in Korea

No that the Kim regime cares, but it is hypocritical of them to complain about US & ROK personnel basically playing a glorified computer game when they are the ones shooting missiles near their neighbors and threatening another nuclear test:

North Korean propaganda organs on Thursday slammed the annual combined military training between South Korea and the United States, labeling it as preparation for war, while the Kim Jong-un regime has made no formal response yet.

Earlier this week, South Korea and the United States kicked off their combined springtime military training that does not include any field troop maneuvers. It is to run through next Thursday.

“This is a reckless, dangerous play with fires of war and a clear exercise for the invasion of the North, driving the Korean Peninsula’s political situation that is already unstable to an extreme,” Uriminzokkiri, a North Korean propaganda outlet, said in a commentary posted on its website.

North Korea Prepares for Large Military Parade in Advance of Major Holiday

Nobody does military parades better than the North Koreans:

North Korean soldiers from the Worker-Peasant Red Guards take part in a military parade at Kim Il-sung Square in Pyongyang on Sept. 9, 2021, to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the country’s founding, in this photo released by the North’s official Korean Central News Agency.

North Korea appears to be making final-stage preparations for a military parade involving a large number of troops ahead of another key anniversary next week, according to satellite imagery reported by U.S. news outlets Wednesday.

More than 12,000 troops were seen gathering at a plaza of Mirim Airfield in Pyongyang earlier this week, Radio Free Asia (RFA) said. It cited commercial satellite imagery provided by Planet Labs.

The area is known as the secretive North’s traditional parade training venue with the replica of Kim Il Sung Square, where such an event highlighted by goose-stepping soldiers and a show of major weapon systems is actually staged. The satellite imagery was taken on Sunday, a week before the North celebrates the 90th founding anniversary of the North Korean People’s Revolutionary Army (KPRA), the anti-Japanese guerrilla force.

North Korea Claims to Have Tested a New Battlefield Rocket

This was the fireworks show that North Korea put on for Kim Il-sung’s 110th birthday party:

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un oversaw the successful test-firing of a new tactical guided weapon meaningful in improving the efficiency of tactical nuclear operations, Pyongyang’s state media announced Sunday.

The new weapon system is “of great significance in drastically improving the firepower of the frontline long-range artillery units and enhancing the efficiency in the operation of tactical nukes of the DPRK and diversification of their firepower missions,” the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said. The DPRK is the acronym for the North’s official name, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

“The test-fire was carried out successfully,” it added without giving other details of the tested weapon, including its type.

South Korea’s military said later that it detected the North’s launch of two projectiles into the East Sea at 6 p.m. Saturday. They flew 110 kilometers at an apogee of around 25 km and a top speed of Mach 4, it added.

North Korea Celebrates Anniversary of Kim Il-Sung’s 110th Birthday

The only interesting so far to come out of this anniversary party is that the Kim regime for some reason did not flaunt their military hardware:

In this photo provided by the North Korean government, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un waves from balcony as he attends a parade to celebrate the 110th birth anniversary of its late founder Kim Il Sung, at the Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang, North Korea Friday, April 15, 2022. Independent journalists were not given access to cover the event depicted in this image distributed by the North Korean government. (Korean Central News Agency)

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un attended a massive civilian parade in the capital, Pyongyang, celebrating a milestone birth anniversary of his state-founding grandfather in which thousands marched in a choreographed display of loyalty to the Kim family, state media said Saturday.

The reports didn’t mention any speech or comments made by Kim during Friday’s event and it appeared the country passed its biggest holiday without showcasing its military hardware, amid heightened tensions over its nuclear program.

North Korea Strongly Condemns President Biden for Pursuing War Crimes Against Russia

In North Korea they have no issue with arbitrarily killing people so of course they would support Russia doing the same thing against Ukrainians:

North Korea on Saturday condemned the United States for making the crisis surrounding Ukraine a human rights issue and imposing sanctions against Russia, denouncing U.S. President Joe Biden as “an old man in his senility” and a man of a “repeated slip of tongue.”

A commentary carried by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said the Ukraine issue has suddenly become a human rights issue, as the U.S. and western media branded the case as a war crime, with a politically motivated plot to defame Russia and to achieve the collapse of its regime.

“The latest story is the U.S. chief executive who spoke ill of the Russian president with groundless data,” the English-language article read. “Such reckless remarks can be made only by the descendants of Yankees, master hand at aggression and plot-breeding.”

The North then called Biden “an old man in his senility” with “a problem in his intellectual faculty,” and “the president known for his repeated slip of tongue,” though it stopped short of putting Biden’s name in the article.

“A big question is if he could ever have done anything right with such IQ during his florid 50-year political career,” according to the commentary.

Analysts Believe that North Korea is Falsely Claiming they Launched a New ICBM

It appears that since the North Koreans failed in the launch of their new ICBM they decided to fire off their older ICBM and claim it was the new one:

A Hwasong-17 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) is launched from Pyongyang International Airport on March 24, 2022, in this photo released by North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency. The North’s leader Kim Jong-un approved the launch, and the missile traveled up to a maximum altitude of 6,248.5 kilometers and flew a distance of 1,090 km before falling into the East Sea, the KCNA said.

South Korea and the United States regard North Korea as having disguised its launch of an existing intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) last week as that of a new larger one, informed sources said Sunday.

The allies believe that the North again tested a Hwasong-15 ICBM on Thursday, the same type it fired in late 2017, according to the sources. The North has publicly claimed success in the launch of a Hwasong-17 missile.

Their intelligence analysis suggested that like the Hwasong-15, the ICBM in question had two engine nozzles, whereas the Hwasong-17 has four nozzles. The engine combustion time of the first-stage rocket was also similar to that of the Hwasong-15.
