Canadian Soldiers train with the Korean Army for the First Time

This is a pretty cool training exercise, but you would think the Canadians would have been able to send more than just 44 Soldiers for this training:

Army troops of South Korea and Canada launched joint high-tech military drills in South Korea for the first time earlier this week, officials said Friday, as part of efforts to bolster bilateral military ties between the two nations.

The 11-day exercise, which runs through April 30, is under way at the Korea Combat Training Center (KCTC), a facility employing advanced technologies for realistic ground drills, in the mountainous county of Inje, some 125 kilometers northeast of Seoul, according to Army officials.

A group of 44 soldiers from the Canadian Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, an Army regiment that served in the 1950-53 Korean War, has been deployed to train alongside South Korean troops from the 7th Infantry Division.

The joint training comes as the Canadian troops visited South Korea to commemorate the 75th anniversary of a key battle that took place in the northern county of Gapyeong in April 1951 at the height of the three-year war.

President Lee Sends Condolences to Canada Over Deadly School Shooting that Killed 10

What is interesting about this latest school shooting was that the shooter was once again trans. Of course the media is not going to look into why there are so many trans shooters:

Tim Horton’s Only Coffee Shop in Korea Shuts Down

I guess Korean consumers are just not into Canadian coffee:

Canadian coffee brand Tim Hortons, operated in Korea by BKR, closed its Cheongna location in Incheon on Sunday, according to industry sources on Friday.

This marks the first closure of a directly operated store since the brand entered Korea, coming just over a year after the location opened in April 2024.

Industry experts attribute the decision to multiple factors, including declining profitability and the fierce competition within the saturated Korean coffee market.

South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, and Canada Being Considered to Join Defense Partnership with the U.S.

If all these countries join it makes me wonder of the AUKUS is turning into a Pacific version of NATO to counter China:

The United States, Britain and Australia are considering South Korea, Canada and New Zealand as potential partners for cooperation on advanced capability projects of their AUKUS security partnership, a senior U.S. official said Tuesday.

The remarks came a day after the defense chiefs of the three countries issued a joint statement noting their consideration of Japan as a partner for Pillar II projects of the partnership.

Launched in September 2021 in an apparent move to counter China’s assertiveness, AUKUS consists of two key pillars. Pillar I is to support Australia in acquiring conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines, while Pillar II is for cooperation in high-tech areas, including quantum computing, artificial intelligence and hypersonics.

“The AUKUS partners are considering a range of additional partners who may bring unique strengths to Pillar 2, including the ROK, Canada and New Zealand, in addition to Japan,” the official said in response to a question from Yonhap News Agency. ROK stands for South Korea’s official name, the Republic of Korea.

You can read more at the link, but China is of course complaining about this announcement. If China would quit trying to forcibly take over other nation’s territory there would be no need for AUKUS in the first place.
