Much of these controversies like handbag-gate were manufactured by his political opponents, but the fact his poll numbers have nosedived below 20% has pretty much forced President Yoon to make this public apology:

President Yoon Suk Yeol offered an apology Thursday for causing concerns to the people and vowed to revamp state affairs amid growing controversies surrounding first lady Kim Keon Hee.

Yoon stood up and bowed his head in apology during a televised address and press conference marking the second half of his term and providing an outline of the future policy direction. (….)

Yoon addressed the concerns over the first lady, who has faced criticism over allegations involving her acceptance of a luxury handbag, stock manipulation and involvement in government affairs.

“She should have conducted herself with greater caution, and the fact that she has caused concern to the public is unquestionably wrong,” he said.

Yoon said Kim should have acted more cautiously and it was wrong for her actions to have caused public concern, noting he appointed a secretary earlier in the day to prepare for the establishment of an office dedicated to supporting the first lady’s work.

Trump’s election victory has led to much speculation in South Korea that he will return to direct diplomacy with North Korea, target South Korean companies with trariffs, cause turbulence in the US-ROK alliance, and cause a drop in the Korean won. China claims an “unexpected obstruction” forced one of its military aircraft into Japanese airspace this summer, according to diplomatic sources quoted by Japan’s Kyodo news agency. China admits no wrongdoing by the Y-9 surveillance plane on Aug. 26 and makes no promises to take steps to avoid a repeat of the incident, Kyodo reported Saturday. The “obstruction” may be a reference to Japanese forces that tracked the Chinese plane, according to the news agency. The Japanese government dismissed the Chinese claims as “nonsense,” Kyodo reported, citing the same unnamed sources. The incursion, just southeast of the Danjo Islands, about 100 miles southwest of Nagasaki, lasted two minutes and sparked an intercept by Mitsubishi F-2 and F-15 Eagle fighter jets, a spokesman for Japan’s Joint Staff said the following day. Japanese government officials asked their Chinese counterparts for a full explanation of the incident during a high-level meeting on Oct. 23, according to a news release posted by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs that day. The flight was a “grave violation” of Japan’s sovereignty and a threat to its security, then-Defense Minister Minoru Kihara told reporters Aug. 27.

It looks like someone crazy got behind the wheel in Gangnam which fortunately no one was killed from:

The court will review an arrest warrant for a woman who rammed into seven cars and drove the wrong way along a boulevard near Gangnam Station in southern Seoul.

The review will be held in Seoul Central District Court at 3:30 p.m. Monday, after police requested the warrant the previous day.

The woman in her 20s was caught driving without a license after causing an accident on the street near Exit No. 12 of Gangnam Station at 1:39 p.m. on Saturday, according to local media.

She was reportedly pulled out of the vehicle by police even as she insisted on continuing to drive.

According to reports, the suspect had hit a woman and her stroller in Songpa-gu, southern Seoul about 30 minutes prior.

A total of 11 people, including a 4-year-old child in the aforementioned stroller, reportedly sustained light injuries in those accidents.

In a police investigation, the woman stated that she took a tranquilizer before driving. No signs of drunk driving were found and she tested negative in a simplified drug test, according to local media.

Oh how nice, North Korea had a celebratory rocket show in honor of the U.S. election:

North Korea fired multiple short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea on Tuesday, South Korea’s military said, in the latest saber-rattling just hours ahead of the U.S. presidential election.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said it detected the launches at about 7:30 a.m. from the Sariwon area in the western province of North Hwanghae, and they flew about 400 kilometers before splashing into the sea.

A JCS official told reporters that the latest launches apparently involved the North’s KN-25 super-large 600-millimeter multiple rocket launchers. The weapon system is believed to be capable of striking anywhere in South Korea when fired from Sariwon.

This is actually a pretty good deal for the Kim regime considering they only sent what appears to be a few thousand troops to Russia:

Rep. Wi Sung-lac, who was Seoul’s ambassador to Russia, told The Korea Herald that entering the war against Ukraine is “not a bad deal at all” for North Korea.

For one thing, the country’s financial and food crises are largely taken care of by Russian compensation for its contribution to the war effort, said Wi, who was briefed by the NIS as a member of the National Assembly intelligence committee.

The NIS reported to the Assembly last week that each North Korean soldier sent to fight for Russia would be paid a monthly wage of around $2,000. At least 10,000 North Korean soldiers are believed to be headed for Ukraine, translating to yearly revenue of well over $200 million, the lawmaker said.

In addition to troops, about 4,000 North Korean workers are currently in Russia, according to the NIS. Their average wage is thought to be about $800 a month.

Wi said every year on average, North Korea produces around 4 million tons of grain such as rice, barley and wheat, according to its own announcement. But most of the country’s “rice production” is actually potatoes, with rice thought to make up less than a third of the total, he explained.

“The 4 million tons of grains that North Korea says it produces per year are actually about 1 million tons short of what it needs to feed the country. If Russia is offering 600,000 to 700,000 tons of rice, that is enough to cover more than half of what North Korea would need to meet the year’s demand,” he said.
