Korean Woman in Yeosu Cuts Off Husband’s Penis for Playing Too Much Golf

I suspect it was more than playing golf that got his wife this upset to cut off his penis and flush it down the toilet:

A woman has been arrested on charges of cutting off her husband’s penis while he was sleeping, police said Monday.

According to Yeosu Police Station, the incident happened at an apartment in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province, at 11:58 p.m. on Saturday.

The woman, 54, whose is unidentified, allegedly cut off the tip of the penis with a kitchen knife and flushed the flesh down the toilet.

A neighbor found the husband, left in pain, and took him to a nearby hospital, where he is in stable condition.

A police investigation revealed that the couple were on unhealthy terms.

Not only had the husband been violent to the woman, she had harbored a grudge because he gave her no money, but spent lavishly on his own enjoyment, such as like playing golf. [Korea Times]

Korean Teacher Arrested for Having Sex with 12-Year Old Male Student

I guess the moral to this story is that the teacher should have waited until the student was 13 which is just a creepy as having sex with a 12 year old:

A female teacher has been arrested for allegedly having sex with an elementary student.

According to police and South Gyeongsang Province education office, the teacher, 32, had sex with a male student, 12, in the classroom and her vehicle. They had sex several times between June and early August by what the teacher claimed was mutual consent, police said.

Having sex with a minor aged under 13 is punishable, even if it is consensual.

The case was reported to the police by the student’s parents, who found photos of the half-naked teacher on their son’s mobile phone.

They also found text messages from the teacher saying, “I love you,”and “I’ll buy you dumplings, come outside.”  [Korea Times]

Former 2nd Infantry Division Commander General Honore Critical of Federal Response to Hurricane Harvey

The former commander of 2ID who became famous for leading the military response to Hurricane Katrina is now making the rounds in the media with his critical comments about the federal response to Hurricane Harvey:

Former Joint Task Force Katrina Commander Russel Honore said Wednesday the military’s rescue efforts in states affected by Hurricane Harvey resembles “amateur hour” because the federal government lacks a strategy for how to respond to large-scale natural disasters.

“The American people have put too much confidence in us,” Honore told CNN host Erin Burnett. “We have been too successful overseas to come out in amateur hour and incrementally deploy the force.”

The retired Army lieutenant general said the federal government should have “come in big” and arrived at the “edge of the storm” so that rescue efforts could begin immediately after it passes.

“We don’t have 100 helicopters here as of last night,” said Honore, who handled the response in New Orleans to Hurricane Katrina 12 years ago.

Despite an extensive study by the Army Corps of Engineers on how to handle these types of disasters, Honore said the government has left it to the states to create and carry out their own responses.

“The problem is we have 50 different solutions,” Honore added. “The federal government took their hand off it and went off to fight terrorism — and each time we have a Sandy or Harvey, the solution is different … It’s cooked up locally by the state.” [Washington Examiner]

North Korean Ambassador Claims Country Has Right to Self Defense After Missile Launch

Like I said before the North Koreans are using the ongoing UFG military exercise as cover for their missile test program:

In the wake of North Korea’s latest missile launch, an official said the country was justified to exercise its right to “self defense,” the Reuters news agency reports.

On Tuesday, North Korea’s ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Han Tae Song, accused the U.S. of driving the Korean peninsula toward an “extreme level of explosion,” claiming the United States has “openly declared its hostile intentions” toward the country.

Han said in response to the U.S. and South Korea holding “aggressive” joint military exercises in the region, “despite repeated warnings,” his country has “every reason to respond with tough counter-measures.”  [CBS News]

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and his wife Ri Sol-ju had their third child earlier this year, according to the National Intelligence Service.

The spy agency submitted a written report to the National Assembly Intelligence Committee Monday that Ri seems to have given birth to their third child in February.

According to the agency, Kim and Ri, who married in 2009, had their first child in 2010 and second one in 2013. There was speculation about Ri’s third pregnancy as she had not appeared at public events for about nine months last year.

The only information known about their children is that the second one is a girl named Ju-ae, which U.S. basketball star Dennis Rodman disclosed after visiting Pyongyang in 2013 at the invitation of Kim, an avid basketball fan.

No other information about the other two children, including their sexes, has been revealed.  [Korea Times]

Victor Cha Expected to Be Nominated as Next US Ambassador to South Korea

This is actually a name that has been floating out there for quite some time:

Victor Cha

The Trump administration plans to name a Washington-based academic and former White House official, Victor Cha, as the next US ambassador to South Korea, an administration official said on Tuesday.

Cha is a former director for Asian affairs on the White House National Security Council and served as deputy head of the US delegation in multilateral talks with North Korea over its nuclear program during the administration of President George W. Bush.

An administration official said he expected the appointment, which will be subject to a Senate confirmation hearing, to be announced “soon,” and added that it had “been in the works for a long time.”  [Business Insider]
