More Taxi Cab Related Shenanigans

It appears that 2ID is even exporting our taxi cab related incidents to Japan:

A 20-year-old U.S. Army soldier from South Korea pleaded guilty Friday in Naha District Court to robbing a cab driver of about $55.

Pvt. James Joiner Jr. of Camp Red Cloud, Uijongbu, South Korea, said he regretted his actions.

“Had I not been drinking, I would never have done that,” he told the court.

Joiner was charged with robbing Sakae Kuba, 56, at 3:35 a.m. May 11 in Okinawa City. He hailed Kuba’s taxi on Gate Two Street near Kadena Air Base to go to the Uechi bar district. As Joiner left the taxi, police said, he grabbed the driver from behind and fled with 5,000 yen (about $45) and $10 in U.S. currency.

If cab drivers in your area are pissing you off, and you think it is time to do something about it, well you to can have 2ID’s finest in your area to teach those cab drivers a lesson. Well, it sounds like this GI got contaminated by Koreans while he was staying in the peninsula. Recently, we see a lot of bad Koreans in Japan; most them are pickpockets (cutting jakects and handbags in train cars). Some of them are robbers. A few of them get intentionally hit by cars in order to get compensation (yes, this is the word they love so much).
Dancing on taxi? Hmmnn, I have to check it out. Maybe Koreans will try this sooner or later.

we must remember, Japanese media can and does distort facts about the US military all the time. until we know the full story, we shouldn't jump to conclusions. this GI probably got cheated and he took out his frustrations on the driver who cheated him. of course, he shouldn't have done what he did, but that's not robbery, just reaction. the japanese media is blowing this way out of proportion. he shouldn't have done what he did, but i understand why he done it. japanese taxis rip off the Marines all the time.
so what makes this different?
