General Bell Recognizes ROK Army Soldier
USFK Commander General B.B. Bell has released a statement recognizing the ROK Army sergeant killed by a terrorist bombing in Afghanistan:
“We mourn the loss of this brave soldier who died while rebuilding Afghanistan so that future generations there might enjoy the peace and liberty which have made Korea a beacon of freedom in Asia,†Gen. B.B. Bell said in a news release.
“On behalf of all USFK servicemembers, I express our deepest sympathies and condolences to his family,†he said in the release. “This tragedy reminds us all of the sacrifices made by all who risk their lives in the name of freedom, and we solemnly honor his memory.â€

SGT Yoon is getting all these media attention from all over the world. But what about a US soldier who also was killed in same bombing? PFC Daniel Zizumbo from Chicago. A US Army Movement control Specialist who was at the gate duty for convoy traffic control. As a former US Army Movement Control Officer, I have commanded the Movement Regulation Team which we have to post at the Gate for convoy Traffic control. PFC Zizumbo gave his life for the country when he was there checking on the convoy traffic. I think US government should also give him the same honor and recognition as SGT Yoon is getting including Bronz Star. They are both from Mid West, but SGT Yoon is getting all these media attention due to being the first ROK KIA. They were both 27 years old.

I'm fairly certain that the government will award PFC Zizumbo with a bronze star medal as well. Everyone that I knew that has been killed in the GWOT was post-humanously awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
GI Korea please tell me you made a mistake when you wrote, "Everyone that I knew that has been killed in the GWOT was post-humanously awarded the Medal of Honor and the Purple Heart."
If by saying "Medal of Honor" you mean in reference to the Bronze Star then I would ask you use "Bronze Star" instead. The Medal of Honor is an actual award and is the highest award issued and it isn't issued commonly. I believe only one has been issued to an Army Sergeant for actions during OIF 1.

Correction, Michael. Two so far, one to Marine Corporal Jason Dunham. There are more in the pipeline but it is taking awefully long to recognize a dozen or so possible MOH in this war.
