General Coggin Defends Alcohol Policy

Second Infantry Division Commander General Coggins has an interview in the Stars and Stripes defending his recent decision to implement a .10% blood alcohol policy.

Well there you have it – it's for your own good!

Asking someone to guess their blood alcohol contend is absurd. Defending the policy is indefensible itself.

Exactly, an unenforceable policy or regulation tears away credability. What happens now is that 2ID Soldiers come into Area II (yongsan) and get fired up drunk. No alcohol policy there. Just check the Dragon Hill logdge or other clubs on the weekends, it's a free for all.

Thing to remember is that the command would rather have these incidents happen in the Dragon Hill Lodge instead of Hongdae. It is easier for the command to read about these incidents in the Stars & Stripes instead of the Chosun Ilbo.
