Prosecution Service goes down in history
The flag of the Prosecution Service is lowered at the Supreme Prosecutors Office in Seoul on Oct. 1, 2026, as the office is shut down 78 years after it was founded and the Public Prosecution Service, along with the Serious Crimes Investigation Agency, is set to launch the next day. The move is part of the Lee Jae Myung administration’s prosecution reform aimed at stripping the prosecution of investigative rights, tasking them with only indicting and maintaining indictments against suspects.
