Iranian National Team Members Arrested for Sexually Assaulting Korean Woman in Gumi
It will be interesting to see how this turns out:
Three Iranian nationals — two athletes and one coach — participating in the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, have been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a Korean woman.
According to police, a report was filed around 7 a.m. Saturday, stating that a woman in her 20s had been sexually assaulted at a hotel in Gumi.
Police responded and arrested two athletes in their 30s and one coach at the hotel.
Initial investigations suggest the suspects met the victim at a bar near the athletes’ village in Gumi before taking her to a hotel, where the alleged assault occurred.

Oh man… I got mixed feelings about this.
I was involved with an incident like this in Korea where a south Asian diplomat sexually assaulted a female Korean government worker.
Except the real story was she went out heavily drinking with him and gave his pea-sized south Asian mind all the right signals… but when he hugged her and tried to kiss her in a public place…
….raaaaaaaaape!
Then the male Korean diplomats, scared of the #metooz if they didn’t make a big deal, made a big deal.
I felt sorry for the guy and stood up for him.
Nothing happened except he went home in shame. No idea if anything happened back home.
But I have a much better story that I can never tell anyone.
The short version is Korea made a mistake beyond mistakes. How it happened is comical (and understandable) but bordering on unforgivable. By luck, I happened to be very close friends with a nephew of the leader of that country. You are welcome, Korea.
It sounds like you’ve done this many times before, CH, sexually assaulting women. You have so many stories to tell.
