Assembly speaker meets Tom Cruise National Assembly Speaker Rep. Park Byeong-seug (L) poses for a photo with U.S. actor Tom Cruise at a restaurant in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Feb. 11, 2021. (Yonhap)
Funny place for the National Assembly Speaker to be… Why was he there? Who paid for the trip? How did he have time to spend hobnobbing with US Celebrities?
South Koreans unemployed or underemployed because of the pandemic might want to ask those questions and a few more…

Why was he there? To attend and participate in the month-long Bangladeshi Transgenderism Support Conference, of course. The generous taxpayers of South Korea are proud, dare I say honored, to have high-level representation at such an esteemed event.

The guy was on a nine day official visit to the Middle East including UAE and Bahrain. Although considering the current situation and that most political leaders are staying put, I can’t help wonder what drove him to make those visits in the first place.
Also, the spin in the local media regarding the Tom Cruise meet was that Cruise was having dinner, supposedly heard that the Speaker was in the same restaurant as he was and that Cruise came down from the 2nd Floor to greet him and told him that he “loves Korea.”
Personally I think it was probably the other way around,

Unless the National Assembly Speaker is about four and half feet tall, that picture is a bit of movie magic.

ChickenHead, my thoughts exactly. Tom Cruise is slightly larger than a Hobbit, so the National Assembly Speaker is quite short.
