If there is no picture, admit nothing, deny everything, make counter-accusations.
If there is a picture, shift the focus on to whatever busybody snitch is constantly out in public soaking up Chinese Coronavirus instead of going to a restaurant and then going home.
On the other hand, readiness is important.

I still remember the “If you’re gonna be late, bring kolaches” advice I got from an old coworker. Whoever the contractor was, he/she should have brought something to share…
