Will Task Force Formed by the Lee Administration Be Used to Purge Conservatives from the Korean Government?
The incompetent martial law attempt by former President Yoon appears now to be used as an excuse to conduct a complete purge of conservatives from the Korean government:

The government will launch a task force to investigate whether public officials were involved in illegal activities or misconduct in connection with former President Yoon Suk Yeol’s failed martial law attempt last December, the prime minister’s office said Tuesday.
Prime Minister Kim Min-seok made the proposal during a Cabinet meeting earlier in the day, stressing that the government’s top priority is to uphold the sovereignty of the people and democracy.
“We will swiftly conduct an internal investigation into public officials who participated in or cooperated with the martial law bid and secure the grounds for taking appropriate personnel measures,” Kim said in his opening remarks.
All 49 central government agencies, excluding those under the presidential office or independent bodies, will be subject to the investigation, which will run through Jan. 31.

No doubt @GIKorea is wishing that President Yoon had succeeded in the martial law attempt which would have secured a right-wing government he likes in addition to USFK in Korea forever.

A more accurate assessment would be that a lot of long-term foreign residents of Korea, and those with Korean interests, such as wives, want to see a South Korean nationalist government that promotes the interests of Korea and Koreans instead of following globalist orders from economy-killing covid nonsense to maintaining reliance on foreign energy.
It is understandable that some concessions must be made to America and China to maintain necessary economic relations. It is understandable that North Korea is best managed with token flashy appeasement and the quiet threat of overwhelming force.
The wisdom is in the balance and the benefit.
But there should be no toleration of Koreans who sell Korea out to America, China, North Korea, the multinationals, or the globalists with their agenda of creating dependence, debt, and the extraction of national resources and labor.
@Korean Person, I never supported the martial law plan. I have said repeatedly it was stupid and if it succeeded would have set a dangerous precedent for future ROK Presidents to use to silence political opposition. ROK Presidents should use policy and debates to win arguments with the political opposition, not sending in troops.
Interestingly the Lee administration today is the one’s using the martial law attempt as a way to silence political opposition with the ongoing purge of conservatives. Instead of debating conservatives and demonstrating his policies are better Lee is using the power of the state to put his critics in jail or at least in legal jeopardy to silence them.
