A video of American military police walking down a street in Okinawa, armed with pistols, has gone viral on Japanese Twitter. Some are calling it a matter of national sovereignty. (The MPs only have the authority to arrest US military personnel.)pic.twitter.com/jFwsh5EICp
“Tweet of the Day: Should U.S. MPs Be Armed During Patrols in Okinawa?”
I don’t know.
SHOULD they be?
An unarmed cop is just a tattletale.
Then I am reminded of a handful of fearless Osan town patrol going Rodney King Lite on a long-time business owner because he had the audacity to unload his van in front of his store long after curfew.
Maybe only some cops should get a gun and the ones with no sense should get a walkie talkie and running shoes.

Wouldn’t surprise me in the least if the sidearms are unloaded, or the rounds are taped together with white surgical tape and kept in a pocket.
