President Lee to Decide this Week on Pardon for Fomer Justice Minister

This is just yet another part of Cho Kuk’s revenge plan against former President Yoon, to receive a pardon while Yoon and his wife and both likely headed to jail:

President Lee Jae Myung will preside over an extraordinary Cabinet meeting early this week to determine special pardons, his office said Sunday, amid growing speculation that he may grant a presidential pardon to former Justice Minister Cho Kuk.

The Cabinet meeting will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, with the review and potential approval of matters related to special pardons, reinstatements and other considerations for clemency expected to be the focus, presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung said in a message to reporters.

It is widely expected that Lee will make a decision on whether to grant a presidential pardon to Cho, who launched the minor Rebuilding Korea Party ahead of the general elections in April last year.

Cho has reportedly been included on the potential list of beneficiaries of presidential pardons, raising the possibility of his early release from prison.

Cho is currently serving a two-year prison term following a conviction on academic fraud charges involving his children and unlawful interference with a government inspection.

Nothing screams integrity louder than pardoning your boys for fraud while prosecuting your political opponents… and their wives…

And yet ever so blind and uneducated fails or refuses to see the big picture regarding the corruption of the Kim Keon Hee.

Of course considering that he is more than glad to let Trump and his cronies f*** him over so he can have the privilege of living under a Russian supported right-wing dictatorship, I’m not surprised.

“so he can have the privilege of living under a Russian supported right-wing dictatorship”

The “russia supported” nonsense is so old and busted that the conversation has gone past “is it bullshìt” to “are the smart people who pushed the lie to influence an election going to have any legal concequences?”

Only the dumbest of the uninformed are still going on about Russia Russia Russia.

And explain how a democratically elected president doing exactly what he promised to get elected is a “dictatorship”.

Making promises, getting elected, and doing what you promised is EXACTLY how democracy is supposed to work.

But maybe you have a different view.

Share your wisdom, oh Korea Thing.

Cho Kuk getting a pardon is similar in nature to every other Korean politician or elite getting one. If South Korea actually enforced sentences, that would put the entire political elite at risk. They are all “currupt” in one way or another, and let’s be frank, anyone with the capability to cheat to get ahead does so in Korea. Hard to enforce standards when it’s a wide spread social problem.

There’s historically only two ways to get Koreans in line on political issues, beat the shit out of them or bribe them to the moon. Right now there’s enough resources (both economic and social prestigue) slushing around for the latter, and that can be sustained somewhat in a democratic system, but should circumstances change they’re going straight back to the heavy handed approach.
