U.S. Cattle Group Wants Trump’s Help to Change South Korea’s Beef Regulations

If the Korean government changes this regulation will this lead to the Korean leftists to start another mad cow crisis like what happened in 2008?:

The U.S. nationwide cattlemen’s group asked the Trump administration Tuesday to help lift South Korea’s import ban on American beef from cattle aged 30 months or older, noting that similar curbs have been lifted in China, Japan and Taiwan.

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) sent its comments to U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Jamieson Greer as the USTR has requested those comments to “assist in reviewing and identifying unfair trade practices, and initiating all necessary actions to investigate harm from non-reciprocal arrangements.”

The age restriction on U.S. beef was put in place in 2008 amid fears over mad cow disease, or bovine spongiform encephalopathy.

Yonhap

You can read more at the link, but the violent mad cow riots in 2008 has to rank up there as one of the most ridiculous anti-US protests ever in Korea. The 2000 Yongsan Water Dumping Incident protests are probably the only ones more ridiculous than the mad cow riots.

most ridiculous anti-US protests

So why not just ship beef younger than 30 months? Probably because they want to ship beef from old cattle that’s fit for only pet foods. American greed has no bounds. In the US, American consumers get beef aged from one to two years, no more than 24 months. They want to unload dead cattle not fit for human consumption on Asian countries.

Do you know what’s truly ridiculous? The US invasion of their allies, Canada and Greenland in the next 6 months to 18 months. First, destabilize these countries, then invade, and put the US billionaire oligarchs in charge of these two countries. What is ridiculous is that this is not a joke as everyone dismisses it as. But according to a US military newsletter, it’s true. That mad cow protest has nothing on these ridiculous American MAGAS who support this crazy looney toon Orange orangutang President.

@Korean Man

“Do you know what’s truly ridiculous?”

Yeah, your second paragraph. Your first one was fairly well reasoned, minus the hyperbole. Then you go off the rails with your ranting non-sequitur in the second paragraph.

As it stands, cattle over 30 months old are not allowed to enter the food chain. The “over 30 months” rule, as it is called, arose from the simple fact that the incubation period for BSE is around five years and, during this time, it can’t be passed on. The rule was introduced as a public health protection measure and aimed to keep as many risky animals as possible out of our beefburgers.

Why isn’t RFK jr complaining about problems with the beef industry?

Because he’s a spokesperson for the US Beef Industry, of course!

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. thanks fast food chain Steak ‘n Shake for ‘RFKing’ french fries

This clearly shows the hypocrisy and conflict of interest that is evident among extreme right wing wackos.

They’ll claim to care about the people, but when their business interests and profits are on the line, their profits always come before the well-being of others.

French fries have been inedible in chain restaurants since the shift away from beef tallow (by government mandate). The mandate doesn’t apply to small independently owned restaurants (IIRC). Much like removing coconut oil from theater popcorn by government mandate, the switch to seed oil did not improve the health outcome but the opposite.
Seed oils are terrible for you. Your “Science!” is over a decade old, KP.
But I doubt the ROK had this problem (Italy didn’t, at least when we lived there the McDonalds fries tasted like I remember them from childhood, inedible here in the states).

Forgot to add:
Hurray for RFK Jr!!
(I don’t get a lot of chances to say that as I do not agree with everything he believes, but this is a very good thing and I’ve been hoping for a long while it would happen…well, really I didn’t even hope, because I thought it was impossible with bureaucracy being what it is).

“People should be able to make their own choices. If you want to eat a donut or seed oils, you should be able to. You should be able to exercise informed choice. You should know what that product is, what’s in your food, and what the health impacts are. And that’s all we’re going to do,”

The media has GREATLY misrepresented RFK jr’s beliefs. When people start yapping about him, I ask a few questions and I know if they are covid vaccine-grade programmed idiots or if they are informed.

Most people are idiots.

I had a meeting with some Eurotards. They overheard me speak Russian on a phone call.

They scolded me.

I had to lie and tell them I was talking to a Russian defector in Ukraine.

Their faces lit up.

I fùcking hate people.

Bonus: My boss kept smiling at me when they weren’t looking and guiding the conversation into all my hotbutton issues… all of which, they hold opposite views.

I texted him, “I’m not falling for that, motherfùcker.”

Then, I sent a picture of something the Eurotards would be interested in and said to everyone, “Take a look what he has to show you.”

They gathered around while he looked at his phone.

Of course I sent a text, “I hope I didn’t tear up your àsshole too much last night.”

The picture wasn’t big enough to scroll that off the screen.

So he had to show the picture they were all waiting for with his thumb on the screen.

He will get his revenge and I will have to manage it.

We are ALWAYS on our toes. We are better people for that.

I love being around smart people.

You don’t get that in much of life.

My best friend from back when we were stationed in the ROK has a Ukrainian flag on her Facebook profile, and is rabidly anti-RFK junior/anti-Trump. When her spouse retired he went to work for Google in California. Since I was relatively naive before 2020 (I guess most of us were then), I couldn’t figure out what Google could possibly want with a former high ranking military person who worked exclusively in the intelligence field.
At any rate, her latest post was to let everyone know measles are here! There was one case found: a foreigner, at the international airport in Virginia. Quite the mass epidemic, that.
Reminds me of the “masses of polio cases” KM asserted were in Texas. Except in this case there was actually one in the entire state (unlike polio).

The news shouldn’t be that third world diseases are in America.

The news should be that diseased third worlders are in America.

As usual liz or Liz tries to spread fake news and misinformation.

There is no evidence to support the claim that ‘french fries have been inedible since the shift away from beef tallow.’

And for someone like RFK Jr who supposedly want people to eat healthy, why is he pushing an unhealthy alternative?

How much has he received from the US beef industry?

I agree with Korea Person.

There is no evidence that french fries have become inedible since switching from beef tallow.

In fact, the evidence clearly shows french fry consumption has gone up, those these number have not been adjusted for demographic expansion.

On the other hand, Liz could have been making a subjective personal statement that is entirely valid.

Without further context, it is hard to know her intention.

Perhaps some Semantics Nazis who always seem to buy cucumbers and Vaseline at the same time can help us out with an informed opinion.

The real question is probably if the alternative to beef tallow is really healthier.

Another question is if the health effect of eating fries and not eating fries is greater than the effects of different oils.

Maybe the best question is if it is anybody’s business¹.

¹this question will need to be revisited if America ever gets universal healthcare
