DMZ Tours at Panmunjom May Restart Soon
For those stationed in Korea that have not been able to take this tour yet because of COVID, you may soon have your chance:

Tours to the truce village that straddles the border with North Korea, which have been suspended for about a year due to concerns about African swine fever and the coronavirus, may resume soon, the U.S.-led United Nations Command said Monday.

Seems like as good a time as any, before it all goes away…
My DMZ tour involved Fully loaded M-5 aid bag, 196 rounds of FMJ Ball Ammo & BDUs. I’m guessing they are referring to the tour that requires a dress uniform…
Doc, my “dress uniform” (i.e., church clothes) these days is cargo pants and a Hawaiian shirt… My “duty assignment” during the Carter years didn’t allow us to visit the DMZ as B-52s still cause a fuss in that neighborhood. And we were on an elevated alert status after Park Chung-hee was assassinated, so thank God that never went any farther toward the special weapons square dance.
I never made it north of Paju; but there was a nice little coffee shop up there. We waited there for brother-in-law to finish work at some factory so we could all go out for dinner somewhere south of the Korea International Exhibition Center in Goyang. Can’t remember the name/address; but I probably have a business card or three…
Great sit down restaurant, patrons not afraid of miguks (not that I’m a particularly scary figure except to buffet owners and tailors), and more great coffee across the street…
2ID doc, haven’t you heard…the DMZ is a nature park and South Korea built breach lan….errr. roads through it so nK can drive through…
