Korea still has a Coast Guard? I thought the president ordered that they be disbanded?

@JoeC, good point. According to Wikipedia the Korean Coast Guard was disbanded and transferred to the newly formed Ministry of Public Safety and Security. The previous KCG was an external branch of Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. So basically the Coast Guard received a new government agency in charge of it.
@GIKorea, ahh … Kind of like how our Coast Guard was transferred from the Department of Transportation to Homeland Security after 9/11. A knee-jerk political posture that didn’t make a whole lot of practical difference in what they did or how they operated.
